"If God be for us, who is against us? He that spared not even his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how hath he not also, with him, given us all things?." ~ Romans 8-31-32
This morning, I joined the congregants of Holy Family Kangai Catholic Church, Kangai in worship.
I am pleased to have joined Kangai residents and to have shared a service, knowing that one of the brightest students from Mwea, who scored an A- and is now benefiting from my scholarship comes from this community.
It's my vision to see that Mwea residents have access to quality preventive healthcare. My efforts are focused on ensuring that no one has to live with a condition that could have been prevented, if detected early.
Today was a great day after a successful Free Eye Camp, where together with Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital, we provided comprehensive care to over 600 residents of Kandongu. As a result, the 40 patients who required specialised treatment, were scheduled to receive care at Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital in Loresho, free of charge.
I am dedicated to continuing my efforts to provide essential healthcare services to those in need and to make a meaningful impact on the lives of the residents of Mwea.

Contractors have returned to the site, and they are working on the construction of the Gakungu Bridge. This bridge will be a key element in facilitating seamless connectivity between Mwea East and Mwea West.
We need a collective and different approach to address the problem of illicit alcohol and substance abuse.
Unlimited with Mary Maingi will continue to raise awareness to school-going children about the importance of abstaining from drug abuse, so that they are able to stand firm even as adults and abstain from substance abuse.
Join me tomorrow morning, live on Citizen TV, for an insightful conversation on alcohol and drug menace.
Ongoing repair and maintenance work being carried out on the Ngurubani-Ndindiruku tarmac road, aiming to enhance accessibility for the residents of Ndindiruku, Gathigiriri, and Nyamindi to Ngurubani town.
Preventive healthcare is the backbone of a vibrant and thriving society. I am very intentional on ensuring my people have access to health camps because I strongly believe that a healthy community is an empowered community.
I take this chance to invite all Mwea residents to come for the Mwea Free Eye Camp, which I am hosting in collaboration with Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital at Wakaniu Primary School, Mutithi Ward on February 24th, 2024.
We will provide free comprehensive eye care services and ensure those in need of specialized care, are referred and treated at no cost.
Come one come all, let's take charge of our eye health.
"For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations." ~Psalms 100:5
Have a blessed Sunday!!
Today has been a painful reminder of the extent illicit alcohol has had on Kangai Ward, Mwea constituency.
Alongside Deputy President of Kenya, H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH, his spouse Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, Governor, Senators, Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretary, Members of the National Assembly, Members of the County Assembly, Women Representatives, and other leaders, we attended the burial of the 17 people who lost their lives following the illicit alcohol misfortune.
The laws are now unto those who are involved to curb the sale and consumption of illicit brews so that we never find ourselves in such a situation again.
Earlier today, I joined the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Prof. Kithure Kindiki in a consultative meeting with the new Mwea security team, following the illicit alcohol incident which led to the loss of many lives.
The government, through the CS, has issued a commitment to conduct a thorough and impartial inquiry into the involvement of officers in the incident. A program to assist those chronically addicted to alcohol so that they are rehabilitated and reformed is also set to take off soon, and a crackdown to ensure all those running bars are adequately licensed and abiding to the required standards.
Through collaborative efforts, we will prevail in the war against illicit alcohol.
The monitoring starts at home; as parents, it is our responsibility to monitor and support our children's studies at home by checking on their progress and providing assistance whenever necessary.
Additionally, we are tasked to involve them in our daily jobs to help them acquire valuable skills and learn from our work experiences. By doing so, we can ensure that they are occupied with productive activities and refrain from engaging in behaviors that could potentially hinder their future success such as drug abuse.
The Mwea Education Summit marked the beginning of our efforts to improve the education system and to record more academic success stories in Mwea Constituency.
In order to fulfill the primary objective of schools, we gathered educational stakeholders and collectively devised a plan to enhance student success and improve academic performance.
My commitment remains to ensure that all schools have access to more resources and support, as well as increasing the number of students who secure admission into universities and colleges.
The journey started, now we monitor progress....
Empowerment begins with belief. Believe in the potential of your dreams, tune your mind to greatness and you will soar higher.
Good morning Mwea!
My deepest condolences to the family of the late World Marathon Record Holder, Kelvin Kiptum, who succumbed to a road accident yesterday.
Kenya, home to the world's most decorated athletes, has lost a great sportsman who had just began writing his story.
Hon. Mary Maingi,
MP, Mwea Constituency
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." ~Colossians 3:23
Have a blessed Sunday!
Coming together as stakeholders will unite us and ensure we fight, in one voice, against alcoholism, drugs, and substance abuse.
Earlier today, I joined Pastor Dorcas Rigathi , leaders of the clergy from Mt. Kenya region, the Deputy Governor of Kirinyaga County, and Members of County Assembly in a consultative meeting on how to effectively address this issue.
Later in the afternoon, we condoled with the families who lost their loved ones during the recent tragic event that left 23 families in mourning in Kangai Ward, Kirinyaga County.
I am immensely happy because farmers are now excelling in their sorghum harvest.
I toured one of the farms and met Mr Mugweru from Kibukure village, Kangai Ward who harvested two tonnes equivalent to 2000 Kgs, from the one acre he had planted sorghum and and had all his produce bought by Kenya Breweries Limited.
This is truly a testament to the possibilities of financial success for farmers. It's a perfect example of what I mean when I say "Pesa Mfukoni" for Mwea farmers.
Kenya Breweries have started buying the sorghum harvest from farmers and will continue until they collect and pay every farmer who had planted sorghum in Mwea.
This afternoon, I joined Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other leaders from the Mt. Kenya Region in the commissioning of a new production line of flour products by Raha Premium in Kutus, Kirinyaga County.
I am impressed by the proprietor, Mr. Chomba, who has created employment opportunities for over 1,000 young people in the company which has a capacity to produce up to 1,000 metric tonnes of flour products in a day.
Adding value to our agricultural produce and ensuring young people have a place to anchor themselves is a great accomplishment and a key enabler in the economic transformation of our country.
Education serves as a vital instrument for creating positive change, and it is our duty to empower our children to succeed.
Today, together with a team from the Child Welfare Society of Kenya, we issued 22 students with cheques, confirming their full education scholarships until they complete their studies.
The issue of drug and substance abuse requires a grassroots approach to effectively address it.
The Unlimited with Mary Maingi has been going to secondary schools in Mwea constituency, educating students on the importance of abstaining from drugs and substance abuse.
However, to address this problem, we need a collective effort from various stakeholders, including the media, parents, teachers, leaders, and law enforcement agencies.
Together, if each of us executes their role effectively, we can make a significant difference in saving our children and creating a drug-free society.
Tune in to Inooro TV at 9 o'clock today in the evening.
I will be a guest on the Ndurumeni Show, addressing the issue of drug and alcohol abuse in Mwea Constituency.
See you all there!

My heartfelt condolences to the families of the people who have passed on as a result of consuming contaminated illicit brew in Kangai and Kandongu, Mwea Constituency.
Such incidents can be prevented by collectively educating our people on the harmful effects of illicit brews and adhering to laws and regulations of the land. The judiciary should also protect their integrity and keep true to their duty of achieving fair and just laws. It is unfortunate that the seller of the killer brew has previously been set free on several occasions despite the dangers his business poses to the community.
In this regard, I would like to urge everyone to help in ensuring our communities are safe from harmful consumables by reporting all illegal activities to relevant authorities and continuously sensitizing our people on the dangers of consuming unregulated products including alcohol.
I'm glad that relevant authorities have taken up the matter and a team from my office is on the site following up on the same.
Kithure Kindiki Rigathi Gachagua

Currently we are in the second phase which started in end of October 2023, and the crop has matured ready for harvest.
