Robert Orlowski, Lead Booster Controller and Flight Operations Engineer, is one of many essential Team Blue employees on the program who maintains efficient processes and ensures the safety of our astronauts and payloads in the capsule.

On launch days, Robert is responsible for leading the team controlling the New Shepard booster through its roll out from the Barn, to loading propellants, launching, landing, and recovering the booster. Between operations, Robert leads the team of booster controllers through training, mission review, and operational improvements to make each launch better than the last.

“My favorite part about working at Blue is being surrounded by the most talented people I’ve ever worked with,” Robert says. “Our team is not only incredibly intelligent and competent, but also so caring and inclusive. This team has been able to perform so many amazing accomplishments because we’re all willing to work together and support each other.”

As we prepare for on Saturday, we’re proud to highlight our outstanding employees who support the program, including Laura Stiles, Senior Manager of New Shepard Launch Operations.

For the past eight years, Laura has worked across New Shepard team in numerous engineering and launch operations roles. She currently supports the launch crew and manages launch ex*****on procedures that ensure a safe and successful mission. In addition to the contributions she’s made to the New Shepard program, get ready to see her co-host the launch on Saturday.

“We’re at an exciting time at Blue where other programs are building up their launch operations and training programs. My team and I have started to get involved in peer reviews and forums that share lessons from the last six years of launching New Shepard, helping to contribute outside of our own program—it’s what Gradatim Ferociter is all about,” says Laura.
