I've just completed an English for Positive Change teaching course online!
I believe in continuous learning and training. This was a great course! Focusing on empowering students and giving them space and comfort to be free in using the English.
I am looking forward to incorporate this into my lessons!

Happy Monday 😄 I am plugged in and ready for a good week of lessons!

This is a 14 day program where you will join a group. Around 15 - 20 people in the group, who like you are practising and learning English. People aged 16, 56, or 96! Age doesn’t matter!
Everyday, for 14 days, I will email you a speaking task for you to complete, record with your mobile phone and then upload your video to a closed Facebook group! This will be a super fun course for those who want to practise English and for those of you currently learning English!

Poetry classes! I sent this video to one of my students in preparation for our class this week.
Poetry... Do I think it should be introduced to people wanting to speak English to communicate in simple and routine tasks. NO! How about learners at a level below a strong intermediate level. NO!
Why? Because poetry can be difficult to understand (even to English native speakers😉 ). It's a creative writing form, using images, rhythm and symbols to convey meaning. This is not important for learners in the earlier stages of their learning!
For more advanced students. Poetry can be a fun way to challenge students, broaden their vocabulary and try something new!

In this online course, together we will create a plan that is suited to you! The plan is broken up into 4 main categories; Listening, speaking, writing, and reading.
I will help you find engaging materials for each category and we will put a plan together to assign time to each activity.
Before the course starts, we will meet for 30 minutes to check your level of English and start discussing your reason for learning English. Then we will meet twice a week for 45 minutes each. Checking with your plan and having conversation intensive classes!
I will set you two small challenges a week for you to complete!

Today I sent out my first weekly 5 bullet email to 20 students aged 18-58 from all over Italy and Spain! 😀
The weekly email is to engage students with relevant, fun and interesting content. The last bullet is an optional challenge I set for them!
I'm really excited to start creating these weekly emails. One thing I have found over the past 2 years of helping people improve their English is that everyone has something that they’re interested in and if you can tailor the learning around that interest, learning English becomes more enjoyable!!

One of the “classrooms” we had in Vieste. A lot of fun for learning to take place outdoors in a comfortable and BEAUTIFUL environment!
The end to a fantastic experience in Vieste running my own theatre workshops in collaboration with FIND OUT English Club di Jolanta! ☀️
24 students and 3 separate shows ending in a big final show! 😁
I think I may have added 1 or 2 extra kg since arriving in Italy. It’s the Italian culture of looking after one another by reminding each other to eat “Mangia Joel, MANGIA!” 😂
It’s been a great week in Vieste with the students and FIND OUT English Club di Jolanta! A lot of fun exploring and improving English through theatre!
