As an athlete I’ve always been accustomed to a PR but I recently achieved one in my professional career.
I’m happy that I have continued to push the limits of what is feasible in minimally invasive
This patient would have a large vertical incision with many GYN surgeons but we removed her 8+ pound uterus of fibroids robotically as an outpatient surgery.
A typical adult uterus is 60g and the one in the bucket here is 3930g 😳

How will my incision look? And what kind of incision will I need? Can I have a bikini cut?

I do the majority of my surgeries robotically which means 3-5 small incisions on the abdomen but sometimes circumstances (Like an 8 pound uterus full of fibroids) dictates an open incision.

The most common would either be a Vertical midline (up and down) or a Pfannenstiel (bikini).

The decision as to which to perform is complex and dictated by…
1. Anatomy
2. Pathology
3. Feasibility
4. Comfort level of your surgeon

Don’t be afraid to ask your surgeon about why you may need a particular incision and how that might effect your recovery.

Happy with the results of this young ladies’ challenging surgery and excited she’ll be able to hide that incision very easily ❤️ It’s worth the extra effort!
