It is a Blessing to know that we have the power to make a difference! Honestly.

LifeStory Sri Lanka was able to fund 14 students facing their Ordinary Level Exams this year. The students of the Paragala School lacked the necessary Science and Laboratory equipment needed for practical and experimental studies. The only option was a tutor in the city who had an institution with the necessities. At the cost of 300/= LKR a session we were able to send all 14 children thrice a month to further their studies in Science. The outcome was a significant rise in marks along with one student ranking 2nd in a Zonal Science competition. The blessing continues as we intend to see these classes through and with that said we want to invite you to partake in making a difference in their lives. Your contribution can pave their future for the better!

Bless you all!

Its the season of giving and that been said we have a continuation from our visit to the Paragala Kanishta Vidyalaya - 14 talented students facing their Ordinary Level examination in 2024 are in need of funding for their science practicals. Unfortunately the school doesn't have its own laboratory or related facilities and the only way for these students to have a chance at scoring in their science practicals is with the help of outsourced teaching. A class in the town takes 300 LKR a session for using their laboratory. Please help us help them in funding their studies. Be a part of their future and lead with example. Bless you all!

A simple security guard surprised to receive a rice parcel. It is amazing how much our actions can impact one another and how important your actions are. A person maybe going through a difficult time and a small gesture of goodwill can brighten their day. Feed the 5000 is not just about feeding the needy, but also about helping one another and spreading kindness.

Project Feed the 5000

So many people on the roads of Sri Lanka could do with a little bit of help, and even though it is well known by everyone that these people need help, most of us have come to believe it is a norm and go on about their lives. This initiative was undertaken to distribute a grand total of 5000 food parcels to the needy around Colombo, may it be the poor and homeless on the side of the street, small street vendors or anyone to whom a small gesture of kindness would mean the world. So far we have successful completed 4 phases.

12/03/2022

There are too many people on the road that need help and of course we cannot help every single one of them. They are overlooked because how can an individual or even an organization help everyone that needs help? We can’t. But maybe we can help one. If we all come together to help the part of our community that needs help, we can change the world. We here in LifeStory choose to be the voice of these people and spread awareness of their reality.

The first gathering of all of LifeStory’s members and volunteers was on the 28th of November 2021, at the Mithuru Sewana rehabilitation center in Padukka. The evening was spent engaging with the members at the center in various activities such as singing and an empowerment session where both parties shared their life stories and what they have learned from their experiences.

Happy Women's Day to you, a Game Changer❤️
We don't define Women's Day specifically for just women, but we define this Day for all those who stand for equal rights. We were all born of the same blood, under the one Sun, hovering over the everyday sky.

Let's break the Bias,
Go beyond borders,
End the battle of the sexes,
And stand in faith together.

Have Faith, Love and Hope and stand up for the Right!

Project ‘Educate a girl’ was LifeStory’s only project that continued over a period of time and was initiated to help spread awareness to individuals who would want to help sponsor a child’s education at the Convent of Our Lady of Victories, Moratuwa. If you are interested in helping these amazing children, please drop a personal message for more details.

Here is a few words from one of our volunteers that has helped us in our projects in several instances.

"They say “charity begins at home” and it indeed did for me at a young age but as life continued to progress I felt as if the true meaning behind it got lost along the way until I came across Life Story SL. Being your average college student, I’ve lived most of my teen and young adult life catering solely to my wants and needs but joining life story was the initial step in changing that route. If you were to ask me to reflect on my experience as a volunteer for Life Story SL it could be summarized in two simple words: Life-changing. I think it’s essential to mention that having had the opportunity to be a part of this organization and its team has been an incredibly rewarding experience that’s dependent on nothing but selfless acts of service, empathy and most importantly love towards humanity and the less fortunate. In a world that’s self-centered Life Story SL has encouraged me to open my eyes to issues often overlooked by society and I’m blessed to say that through this organization I’m now able to make a difference in the life of at least one induvial if not a hundred. It’s no secret that volunteering brings together a diverse range of people from all walks of life. Being a part of this team, I’ve had the privilege of meeting many individuals with their own stories to tell and I’m glad to say that the valuable and lifelong friendships I’ve formed while giving back to those who are experiencing substantial hardships overflows my heart with emotions of joy and pure happiness. What started out as a single expedition to ‘Maligawatta’ with the intention of lending an extra set of hands has now become something I’m extremely passionate about and plan to continue for the remainder of my life. I stand here today extending my heartfelt gratitude to Life Story SL and its wonderful team for welcoming me into their family with arms wide open and providing me with a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of something bigger than myself."

Towards the very end of the distribution of parcels, the LifeStory team was completely overwhelmed by the amount of people who surrounded the vehicle, arms outstretched, reaching out for the final parcels. In the people’s eyes, this was a lifeline, and they were looking at us as saviors.

28/02/2022

While the LifeStory team was distributing the parcels of dry rations to the families in Maligawatte, word spread like wildfire about aid being given to the people, and we soon observed that we were being followed by a group large group of individuals staring in awe, waiting to be helped. Seeing how eager this woman is to receive just a mere parcel of dry rations speaks volumes as to what these people were going through.

The logo of LifeStory itself speaks a message.

The red heart represents an individual’s heart, the place which holds all one’s emotions, thoughts, hopes, dreams, disparities and joys and the hand within the heart represents the owner of that heart. The smaller hand that is reaching into the heart symbolizes an external party, trying to reach out to this individual and say “We got you.”

The inner hand can be an adult, child, man or woman, and it’s we here in LifeStory reaching out to these people’s hearts for them to open up and share their stories.

A few words from our founder and president, Keleigh Berenger, on what she believes LifeStory is trying to achieve.

“LifeStory is not just a community of people trying to aid people in need financially. We also stimulate empowerment, we motivate them, and we also sustain spiritual healing in relating to them on a ground level. We believe that even more than financial support, what people need is love and hope to see that there are people that love and care in the world.

Most of us on a daily basis complain about the slightest things, but when we take a look around we realize how each individual is blessed differently. We are all blessed, and it is up to us to use the wisdom we have to utilize those blessings.

The social world is not a bed of roses. Depending on who you are and how you made it through, the world can either be your greatest friend, or taken the wrong way and it can bring you down. LifeStory instills a revolution of hope. And we, with whatever we can do, try our best to bring out that revolution of hope. Our very own members are proof that hope and love exists. Because as much as we help people, we ourselves watch them and grow, and that is the greatest revolution.

LifeStory is open to everyone and there is no limitation. The only criteria we seek is that you have hope and exercise love, because the world needs a lot of that.”

"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared."
― Lord Buddha ―

Here's a picture reminiscent of an incredible milestone engagement of LifeStorySL - The Project LifeLine

We were able to help 86 families in Maligawatte who were living in very tough living conditions and suffering the impact of the economic shock caused by the Covid lockdown.

Their joy and happiness brightened our day. It's the little things that pave the path to an imminent change. Spread love, spread kindness.

It was on 30th October when our volunteers were distributing food parcels near Bellanwila temple, we saw two needy men running towards us even without looking at the traffic on the road. These men were so desperate and in need for food that their hunger couldn't hold them waiting but to run towards us. Our volunteers gave them food parcels with pleasure and the happiness on their face made our day.

As the volunteers of Lifestory set out to distribute their first phase of "Feed the 5000", they came across a woman selling fresh fruits and vegetables in Piliyandala Bypass road. The stall was filled with fruits and vegetables which shows us that they remain unsold and the woman doesn't seem to be very happy. My beloved friends, if you all pass by Piliyandala Bypass road and spot this lady selling fruits and vegetables, help her by buying some fruits or vegetables.

19/11/2021

An elderly woman in Piliyandala Bypass road has built her small stall down the road. She is selling freshly picked King coconuts through which she makes a living. When the volunteers of Lifestory passed by her stall, it seemed that the king coconuts are unsold , resulting in no profits for the woman. My dear friends if you pass by Piliyandala Bypass road, buy a king coconut from the woman and rejuvenate your day.
