Walsh Librv Build
This is a blog page for the rebuild of our LibRV truck. It started life in 1995 as a Library truck b
Finally got around to making some cupboards and shelves in our bedroom. Bedside lights and phone chargers all built in.
Spot the difference. Raptor paint today.
Some quick graphics on the back to cover old racking holes and make it look more RV esk.
Before and after. Roof painting/ resealing today.
2 years ago and now. Couldn’t done it without the help of Tony, Dave and support from Katrina.
Fitted a second diesel heater (to front today) plus replacement speakers, shower light, TVs on brackets, remote holders, Table at back bench, a clock, replacement air filter and a good clean inside. Also remembered to test the smoke and carbon alarms. All ready for our first weekend away. Oh and also replacement air con cover that went AWOL (in 500 pieces 😅).
Travel straps for doors and phone holder fitted yesterday.
Under bed carpet today. Time to think about what furniture to build in bedroom now.
Engine cover carpeting today. Black was the right choice. Silver soundproofing covered.
All side lockers continuous hinges replaced and new locks. Also water locker strengthened with metal struts.
Replacement fog lights fitted. Old ones had a religious streak. They were holy. 😅😂
MOT passed. Sailed through.
Quick replacement of Air heater tank today. Safer and easier to fill than the one in the garage above the battery charger.
Obsolete pre filter / separator and broke last week. Bypassed for emergency and now replaced with better off the shelf solution. Time to buy some spares.
Life goals. No more using clicker on hands and knees to light oven.
Out with the old and in with the new 2000w inverter today. A few extra sockets and USB points too. No more wasted solar energy. Katrina Johnson Walsh and Issy can use a hair dryer now too.
Old waste water tank out (literally fell in 2) and new fitted underneath. No more walking in own swamp water 😅
No more pushing cables on batteries.
A job that needed doing (although I preferred the before look from afar) rubber had dried and rot was starting in places. Modern materials will tidy and save further water ingress in joints.
Edit: Now 5 little jobs today:
1) Secondary sound proofing to engine cover.
2) Tidy & trim of steps
3) Check and top up of leisure batteries.
4) Trim fitted to back of cab
5) Front speakers wired and back 2 sets joined on rear (now I can hear over the engine)
MOT passed......Time for spring and camping season, and maybe a few more tweeks along the way.
Next job sorting side lockers and new waste water tank.
No one to check lights so let’s make a video.
Thank you to Richard for great work on our exhaust. No part available so one was fabricated. Great service at a reasonable price.
Lights, lights, fire extinguisher. All fitted and working again.
Seats refitted and aligned so they can swivel and adjust for a better driving position. 24/12 v dropper wiring via switch fitted for power. MOT fail corrected.
Time for a little TLC and some jobs that need doing for MOT. The seats need a 12v supply to move so took the opportunity to fit the carpet that’s been in the shed for 6 months. Cleaned and fitted the trim on the dash and sadly found a hole in the exhaust.
Upholstery all done and fitted. Thanks Mum.
400w of Solar and MPPT controller fitted today. Even in this weather we were getting a little output.
Replacement seats sourced and tested. Swivels on order.
Finished phase 1. Maiden voyage, set up and looking forward to a great weekend with friends and family time.
