If you have trouble finding time to study, rules from Brian Tracy's book can be helpful «Leave the squeamishness, eat the frog». 📙

The book teaches you how to set goals, plan the work, systematize your tasks, and solve the most important ones step by step. We have collected for you the 8 best pieces of advice from the book.

📋 Plan the tasks

Learn how to plan your day, week, and month in writing (on paper or on your smartphone). Every minute of planning saves more than ten minutes of time.

🔢 Set priorities

Tracy works on the principle of «ABCD»
A - it is obligatory to perform.
B - it is desirable to perform.
C - it is pleasant to do.
D - to delegate.

⏰ Use time management techniques

Select from: Pareto's Law, «Salami Method», «Eat the Frog in the Morning Rule», Pomodoro Technique, 10-3-2-1-0 Formula, Eisenhower Matrix. Try different methods and monitor your effectiveness.

💼 Prepare your work properly

Keep gadgets, passwords, and programs handy. Save sites and services in your browser bookmarks. Take notes. Also, design your workspace to be beautiful, comfortable, and convenient.

❌ Learn how to say «No»

Give up the small things to make time for the big ones. These also include empty activities, distractions, and useless habits. It can be hard to say «no» to a person. But which is more important to you: being polite or being efficient?

💯 Complete the work you've started

Each task started triggers new processes in the brain. And if a person switches, the brain continues to process the old task in the background. Don't spread yourself too thin. Keep a list of tasks, checklists - it will save time and strength.

🔋 Storing energy

During work, take small breaks (5-10 minutes every hour). And after work, stretch your legs, take a shower, take a walk. If you don't have energy at all, it's better to postpone things for a while and not blame yourself for it.

🥳 Become Optimistic

Most successful businessmen are optimists. Tell yourself that you can handle any task. Think positively, but don't relax, because overly optimistic people indulge in fantasies and lose motivation.

What rules of personal effectiveness work in your life? ⬇️

1. Choose a study space
It’s easier to recall information if you’re in the same place where you first learned it, so having a dedicated space to take online courses can make your learning more effective. Experiment to discover which type of setting boosts your productivity. It can be at your kitchen table, at a quiet coffee shop or at the library.

2. Schedule time to study
The flexibility to create your own schedule is often one of the biggest appeals of taking online classes. But that freedom can also be detrimental if you do not have solid time management skills. Open your calendar and choose a predictable, reliable time that you can dedicate to watching lectures and completing assignments. This helps ensure that your courses won’t become the last thing on your to-do list.

3. Keep yourself accountable.
It can be hard to stick to a schedule for an online course. However, be strict with yourself about adhering to your schedule. Self-discipline is vital to your success in an online course. If you’re having trouble holding yourself responsible, pair up with a fellow classmate, or enlist the help of a spouse or friend to check in as an accountability partner.

4. Learn Actively
Learning happens when the neurons in your brain are active. To learn effectively, you must engage your mind. Write notes in your own words, recall information – say what you know about a topic without using notes. And if you do feel yourself falling behind, speak up. Don’t wait until an assignment is almost due to ask questions or report issues. Email your professor and be proactive in asking for help.

5. Take breaks
It’s important to take breaks as you study. Do something fun, like watch TV for a few minutes or go for a brief walk. You will find yourself feeling refreshed and recharged after a quick break.

1. If you don't know where to start, identify what you really need to change.
Be clear about what the problem is. You may not need a full-on change to get you into the space that you want.
Try to be as specific as possible. If it's your boss or co-workers, think about switching departments. If it's the whole place, leave the people behind and do similar work elsewhere.
If you've exhausted all options, it's time to shore up your resume.

2. Consider less-traditional ways to get the experience you need to make a big career change.
Take classes, volunteer, and get yourself familiar with your field of choice.

3. Bring all your past experience and knowledge with you! Life experience can boost your confidence and be used as a negotiation tool.
There's a misconception that when you start a new career, you're starting from square one. And that's not actually the case. Would it surprise you if a bartender became a therapist? That old trope exists for a reason; they're great listeners if you keep paying them!

4. Face the numbers. Learn about the salary structure of your new career and take steps in your current situation to be ready for the change.
Once you've come to terms with your financial picture, you should start doing research on the new job you'll be transitioning into. What can you realistically expect to earn? Are salaries in your new career ever going to be on par with those of your former career?

5. Tap into your support networks.
Once you've made a change, don't be afraid to ask for help. You need encouraging people around you who want to help you succeed, whether it means helping with childcare or just leaving you alone to study.

6. You've got to keep it moving! Otherwise known as the Shoulda-Woulda-Coulda principle.
Many of us get overwhelmed by the prospect of starting over and we end up staying in the same place, regretful and resentful while it seems like everyone around us moves forward.
Process your feelings. No matter how long the road looks, the sooner you start, the sooner you get to the finish line.

The number of people who experience job burnout has increased by 9% since before covid. It’s very important to know how to prevent it, because treating it is much harder. First of all you want to manage your stress level. Here are some tips for this:

Exercise 💪
You can start doing yoga, workouts or find a sport you like. Physical activity helps you unwind, change the scenery and is crucial for your mental and physical health.

Fix your sleep schedule 😴
Fix your sleep schedule. It may seem unimportant, but it affects your stress level and ability to think clearly.

Eat a balanced diet 🥩 🍚 🥗
Eating a healthy diet filled with omega-3 fatty acids can be a natural antidepressant. Adding foods rich in omega-3s like flaxseed oil, walnuts, and fish may help give your mood a boost.

Do something you like 📖
Find a hobby and spend time committing to it every other day. It’s very important to have a life outside your workplace. If you can’t find a perfect hobby — journal, meditate, watch films, read books. Look forward to something every day.

Ask for help 🆘
During stressful times, it’s important to reach out for help. If asking for assistance feels difficult, consider developing a self-care “check-in” with close friends and family members so that you can take care of each other during trying times.

Are you thinking of changing careers but don’t know what to pursue? Here are 5 reasons you should pursue a coding career 🧑‍💻

1. Programmers are always needed.

In other career fields demand can be temporary and quickly dry up when economic conditions are poor. Programmers are in high demand all of the time.

2. Programming can open up new job opportunities at your current employer.

Most every company has a need for programmers at some level, from writing code, to automating certain processes, to developing new products and solutions.

3. You need less time to learn programming compared to other high-paying jobs.

You can learn coding at a decent level in six months or less. After starting a new job as a programmer, you can continue to complete additional training courses to be more proficient.

4. Programmers get more money than others 💰

Programming jobs pay much more than other positions. Also programmers can work for a specific company, on a contract basis, or as freelancers working on multiple projects for several organizations.

5. Programming helps you develop better creativity, critical thinking, reasoning, and problem solving skills 🤔
Programmers are responsible for developing new ways to solve problems, which requires the ability to essentially “think-outside-the-box” to develop solutions.

Even though good programming specialists are wanted by all employers, you still need to make a good impression at a job interview.

Here are some things not to do

❌Don’t arrive too late or too early.

Being late is rude, but what about being too early? It’s not pleasant to have a person come when you’re not ready to host them and give them attention. So it can create an impression that you’re not considerate or just p**s off the interviewer. That won’t give you better chances.

❌Don’t dress inappropriately.

Some of us want to show off their cool personality by wearing something loud. But a job interview is not the best place to dress that way for. It’s better to wear an appropriate smart casual outfit and throw in a detail that shows your personality.

❌Don’t be rude.

If someone spilled coffee all over you or pushed you in a doorway, you’ll feel angry and want to pour it onto any person near you. But don’t do that to your interviewer. Try to calm down before going in to radiate peace and joy. First impressions matter.

❌Don’t check your phone.

Be engaged in the conversation even if you are expecting an important text or running late somewhere. Breaking eye contact makes you seem bored, uninterested or even just rude.

❌Don’t come unprepared.

Search information about the company you can work in and try to come up with some questions about the offer or company in general. It’ll make you seem interested but not like it’s your only option (even if it is).

Share your experience and advice for job interviews and good luck!

There are a lot of jokes around the fact that programmers have very big salaries. And this stereotype is true. So let’s find out, why do they get paid so much?💵

There are very few really qualified specialists

Lots of people are scared by STEM professions, so they try to find other ways to succeed. Others don’t have enough patience to become a great programmer.

Tech sphere is dynamic, so knowledge quickly expires 📈

Not to mention new coding languages that are created, the world of code evolves every second, making a constant need to develop your knowledge about coding.

The market makes employer to seek for employee, not otherwise.

Because of the lack of real professionals, employers have a hard time finding “the one”, so they’ll pay more for your expertise.

We prepared some tips for beginners in coding. Part 2

7. Start honing your developer brand.
Changing careers and becoming a developer involves learning hard skills in programming. It also involves learning how to position yourself and your new developer identity.
You should start thinking about how you want to present yourself as a developer.

8. Push yourself outside your comfort zone.
If you only work on problems that are easy, or that you feel very comfortable solving, you will never learn anything new. The most successful people who launch a career in coding challenge themselves to push outside their comfort zone every day.

9. Work on a project with other people.
Working on coding projects with many different individual contributors is an important experience and it will require learning new skills which are very important for employers.

10. Keep a positive attitude.
To successfully start a career in coding, you need to take emotion out of your coding process. Error messages in your code are not messages that you’re bad at this, it’s telling you the code just isn’t working in the way that you might have thought it would. It’s okay.

11. Work on coding challenges.
Development teams are looking for programmers who are good problem solvers. Putting developers in the situation where they don’t immediately know how to solve a problem is important. It tests if they’re capable of figuring out the answer after exploring the problem and thinking through different approaches.
Solving coding challenges helps you hone this skill.

12. Immerse yourself in code.
To immerse your world even more in code you can:
– Watch technical conference talks on YouTube;
– Follow technical influencers on Twitter;
– Listen to podcasts about learning to code.

Starting any career can seem overwhelming, and programming is a whole new world you are immersing into. So we prepared some tips that will help you feel more confident.

1. Go 100% all-in.
Learning enough of a new skill to be employed in a new field takes a lot of work. Instead of trying to find a quick trick to eek out a small advantage, you need to simply go all-in and spend your time doing the hard work.
If you’ve had other identities in the past, they can help guide you to your new role, but when someone asks you what you do, say, “I’m a developer”.

2. Get your code reviewed.
Improvement only comes by sharing your work with someone experienced and listening to their advice. It’s critical for the improvement of coding skills!

3. Start a side project.
Employers are always impressed by job applicants who have projects they’re working on that they genuinely care about. Passion can be contagious and this can help separate you from other applicants.

4. Go the extra mile.
There is nothing wrong with spending a bit more time and doing more than what is required. Going the extra mile will also show potential employers that you’re serious about launching your career in coding.

5. Never pretend to know things that you don’t.
One of the most harmful things when learning to code is pretending to understand things you don’t. Learning to code takes a long time. and getting to the bottom of how things work is important.
Avoiding this will eventually catch up with you, and that won’t be good.

6. Pair program with someone more experienced than you.
If you’re not familiar with pair programming, here’s how it works: pair programming is generally split into two separate roles. One person “drives”, meaning they use the keyboard to type code. The other person – the one not in control of the keyboard – is responsible for keeping the person using the keyboard on the right track.
Having someone teach you one-on-one through live instruction, you’ll have the opportunity to get personalized instruction on-the-go, which is the best possible way to learn.

The info is from an article by Ken Mazaika.

If you can't make time to study, here are the rules from Brian Tracy's book “Do It Now. 21 Great Ways to Do More in Less Time”. 👌

📙The book teaches you to clearly define goals, effectively plan your time, organize tasks according to their importance and solve the largest of them step by step.

☝️ Let's discuss the key takeaways:

1.📋 Plan your time
Learn to plan your day, week and month in writing (on paper or on your smartphone). For every minute of planning, there are at least ten minutes of saved time.

2.🔢Prioritize.
Correctly prioritize tasks according to the "ABCD" principle:
A - tasks which you must complete
B - tasks which are desirable to complete
B - tasks which are nice to complete
D - tasks you can delegate to someone else

3.💼Prepare well for the work ahead.
Everything you need should be at hand (gadgets, passwords, writing utensils, programs, etc.). Make sure that the workplace is convenient, cozy and comfortable specifically for you.

4.❌Learn to say "No".
To let big things bust into your life, you must first get rid of small ones.
Say “No” to non-priority activities, your own slowness, distractions and ineffective habits.

5.💯 Require yourself to complete each task.
Deep down, everyone has a need for completion. This means that a person feels stronger and happier when they complete a task.

6.🔋 Accumulate Energy
Without recharging energy, you will quickly lose efficiency.

7.🥳 Become an optimist
Realize you can handle any challenge and remind yourself that you are a great professional.

Which rules do you already follow and how do you think you can make the time? Write in the comments below! ⬇️
