Great Work
Great Work is working towards an inclusive world for all of us, with and without disability.
We specialize in providing individualized support and creative approaches to help people with disabilities find and keep great jobs in the community.
Amid record low unemployment, Minnesota officials highlight underutilized labor pools In June, Minnesota had the lowest state unemployment rate ever recorded in the U.S., and that means workers are harder than ever to find. Harder โ but not impossible. State officials are encouraging employers to dig a little deeper into the labor market.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)!
celebrates the many contributions that people with disabilities bring to the workplace. We believe this provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the ableist barriers that can prohibit employment. Barriers including gaining competitive wages, getting approved for reasonable workplace accommodations, and navigating environments that do not allow for career growth and development.
The theme of NDEAM this year is โAmericaโs Recovery: Powered by Inclusion.โ In an โinclusiveโ society, every day provides an opportunity to bring awareness to all the nuances surrounding disability employment โnot only one month a year.
Itโs time to HIRE, RETAIN, AND PROMOTE US! There can be no economic justice without including the disability community!
Be sure to follow us for more content on this important topic.

Introduction
Welcome!
My name is Chelsie Gibbs and I started Great Work in January 2020. At Great Work we help people with disabilities and businesses realize the benefits of inclusion in the workplace. We employ creative and innovation approaches to help people with disabilities find the right job for them, and we collaborate with businesses to help them better hire, train, and retain people with disabilities.
Things were humming along great for about two months, and then COVID-19 happened bringing reduced employment opportunities and social isolation. In response, we added a calendar of virtual social opportunities to help our service recipients stay connected and maintain their physical and mental health. As our virtual community grew and friendships developed, it became clear that weโd need to continue offering social opportunities in person. So, as soon as itโs safe to do so, weโll begin transitioning our virtual social events to in-person social events. If youโre curious what weโre up to, you can check out our virtual activity calendar on our website here.
Through this page weโll share resources for people with disabilities, families, businesses, and allies. Weโre glad you stopped by and we hope youโll stick around!
