Sanded. Coated. Double coated. Ready for pouring! The prep work that goes into making these cement vessels- mixing the cement, getting the proportions just right to get the appropriate consistency, adding the color, pouring into the molds, tapping and pounding the table profusely to reduce the air bubbles, then taking it out of the mold, waiting days for it to cure and then sanding and applying a coat since cement is porous and I wouldn’t want the wax to seep through. I think I underestimated just how much work it would take to produce these vessels. And that’s just the vessels alone! I still have to place warning labels, glue gun the wicks to the center of the vessel (which is surprisingly very challenging), melt the soy wax, measure and then add the fragrance oil and mix some more, and then hand pour the wax at the right temperature into each individual jar. And then after waiting two hours for the wax to completely harden, I need to take a heat gun and melt the top just enough to carefully place my dried flowers and crystals in a way that’s appealing to the eyes. After that’s done, labels need to be placed as straight as possible which is also very challenging with these cement vessels. I’m still experimenting ways to work around that. I’ve tried stenciling and painting them on but I’m not entirely satisfied with that outcome yet.

Anyway, if you’re still reading this, thank you. I love what I do and I love the way my candles come out. This post was not me complaining about the process but rather me appreciating the fact that I’m doing this and getting it done despite the amount of work that goes into it. I know the candle industry is an over saturated industry and I more than likely started too late to make a name for myself but I truly, wholeheartedly enjoy making these candles. To anyone that has purchased my candles thus far and given me amazing feedback, I thank you for your support in helping my business grow and helping me get one step closer to achieving my dreams. Your support and love never goes unnoticed. I strive to be as authentic as possible with my brand and with my products and I truly hope you guys can all see that. Peace and love ♥️ Kristen

I’m really excited to finally be working on these concrete vessels. This is the very first one I’ve made and I’m actually not mad about the end result despite the air bubbles and labels not adhering properly to the concrete. Definitely need to work on different methods to achieve the best possible product so stay tuned! ♥️

Welcome! Gembiance first started as an idea in 2020 during the beginning stages of our nationwide lockdown. I was bored at home with my partner and my two pugs and I needed something to do. During this time, everyone was starting their own version of small businesses and I decided to take a stab at it. I was going back and forth about what to create and sell and for the longest time, I couldn’t land on one specific idea. Then I realized my love for great smelling candles. There was nothing more soothing than being confined at home with Netflix on, temperature set to 68 degrees, window blinds shut, and a lit candle’s scent overtaking the entire room. Perfection.

After hours of extensive research into the candle making industry, Gembiance was born. I ordered my first batch of candle supplies and quickly got to work with testing out different methods of candle making. I started thinking harder about how I can make a candle more interesting and pleasant to look at and that’s when I decided to create soy candles embedded with an array of dried flowers as well as rose quartz and purple amethyst crystals. I posted a finished product on my social media profiles and people loved it. Most importantly, I LOVED IT. Since then, I’ve sold a bunch of candles locally and have gotten amazing reviews and feedback so far. My plan is to keep creating a product that I love and that people will love too, so that’s what I’m here to do.
