Peter Oehlberg for Robbinsville Board of Education
My name is Pete Oehlberg and I am running as an independent candidate for a 3-year seat on the BOE
The 2022 Election results have been certified by the Mercer County Clerk. I am humbled to have been elected to one of the three open seats on the Board of Education. Congratulations to Jeffrey Pierro and Raghu Nandan.
At every meet and greet the passion for the education of our children was the common theme.
It was great to meet so many who share my passion.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone whose support and hard work made this possible.
My work as a newly elected BOE member begins in January. I am committed to work with my colleagues on the board to fulfill the promises I made during my campaign.
Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
Today is the day!
If elected to the Robbinsville Board of Education, I promise to:
* Respect the teachers, staff, administration, fellow board members, and residents
* Protect our students and ensure the district is meeting their academic, social, and emotional needs
* Balance the needs of the district with the desires of the community
* Listen attentively to residents’ concerns
* Engage in positive dialogue with everyone
As I said from the first days of my campaign, I believe in:
* a public school education
* cultivating a school culture where every child, every staff member, and every community member feels safe, valued, appreciated, supported, and respected
* a diplomatic, collaborative approach when communicating with school staff, students, families, and community members
* understanding and accepting the diversity in our community is vital to ensuring our schools are well run
Public education at its core is designed to support, educate and foster the growth of all students. It should create opportunities for all students to achieve their personal goals. I believe, as I did 3 months ago, that the best way to do this is by ensuring our school culture is one of respect, inclusivity and collaboration. Having the opportunity to personally to speak to so many parents and community members during this campaign, I know that we share the same beliefs.
Have a Happy and Safe Halloween!
I wrapped up my community meet and greets over the weekend. Robbinsville is filled with fantastic parents and community members. Meeting new people has been the best part of this campaign. I was moved by the individual stories of the great teachers we have in town. I’ve heard the concerns over teacher retention and the state of the negotiations. I’ve engaged in thoughtful discussions in what it may take to bring this to a resolution. Listening to the community is important to effectively serve. I’m thankful for all those that hosted meet and greets in their driveways and streets, who visited me at Bagels and Cream and attended the REA forum.
I hope I’ve earned your confidence that I’ll serve our children’s education as my priority and you will
“Meet Me In The Middle”
Please join me this Saturday for the last Meet and Greet before Election Day.
Looking forward to meeting everyone this weekend!
It was important that the community had the opportunity to hear from four of the seven candidates in an open and transparent forum.
Thank you to the League of Women Voters for moderating this forum and the REA for hosting.

Thank you everyone who came to another Donuts in the Driveway Meet and Greet that took place in Town Center this morning. I enjoyed meeting new people and listening to their concerns expressed about the future of our school district. Thank you to our host, John Finnegan, for arranging a great event.
Happy World Teacher’s Day to all the hard working and dedicated teachers and staff of Robbinsville Schools!

Important Topic: Community Collaboration
Members of the Board of Education are elected by the community to represent the interests of the community. It is imperative that open dialogue between the Board of Education members and constituents be encouraged. What has been lost in recent years is transparency in reporting board committee discussions. Committee meeting minutes are no longer posted on the district website. It is understood that redaction is required for confidential discussions, such as personnel or contractual issues.
In order to foster a collaborative environment, consistent ongoing community working groups covering a wide range of topics mental health, literacy, diversity, and district capital improvements are needed. These topics have a direct impact on our students and community and all voices should be represented.
I am committed to embodying the Robbinsville core mission of providing an outstanding educational program for our students. This will promote a happy, focused, ready-to-engage environment where students inquire, discover, and cultivate a love of learning. I look forward to having the opportunity to serve my community as a member of the Robbinsville Board of Education.
This past Sunday I had the pleasure of meeting many members of the community at a Meet and Greet held in Saran Woods. Thank you to the Saran Woods residents and community members that took the time out of their Sunday to meet with me. A special thank you to the resident training for a marathon who could not stop, but shouted I had her vote as she ran by.
Happy New Year to everyone celebrating Rosh Hashanah. May you have good health and happiness.
Hi everyone, signs are in! If you requested one at a meet and greet, it is on the way!
Please DM me if you are interested and I will drop one off.
Important Topic: Refocus on Education
As a result of events that have taken place over the past couple of years, messaging and public discussion in the district has strayed away from education. It is time to refocus the discussion back to the district's core goal of education. To be clear, the district has not stopped educating Robbinsville children, but the conversation needs to return to its core mission. Part of my goals, if elected to the Board of Education, would be to:
•Recognize that teachers are the main implementers of educational initiatives
•Promote classroom initiatives and celebrate educational successes at every level
•Report on advancements in mental health initiatives
•Highlight all post high school graduate opportunities
It is important that the district is transparent and open with discussing these topics with the community, not just at the monthly Board of Education meetings.
I am committed to embodying the Robbinsville core mission of providing an outstanding educational program for our students. This will promote a happy, focused, ready-to-engage environment where students inquire, discover, and cultivate a love of learning.
9/11, NEVER Forget
Today I had the pleasure of having a Donuts in the Driveway meet and greet event in the Springside Community. It was great to meet many new members of the Robbinsville Community Family and listen to their perspectives on education in our district. A special thank you to Vinod and Gayathri for hosting the event!
It’s been a great experience connecting with so many community members over the past several weeks! Many of you have asked me how you can contribute further to my campaign.
Here is an easy way:
Venmo:
According to the state statutes, the following is required: Name, address, employer. Please include these details in the comments section of your contribution.
Thank you always for your support!
Last night I attended the Robbinsville Education Association’s Salary Guide Workshop. The information provided the detailed process for negotiating the financial aspect of a contract. The biggest take away for me was that not all staff will receive the final negotiated rate increase. I encourage you to watch the live stream recording on Robbinsville Community for Schools to learn more.
It was highlighted that Robbinsville teachers, are in fact underpaid when compared to their peers in Mercer County. This pay gap will continue to increase unless a settlement is reached that helps bring their salaries more in line with our neighboring districts.
I hope that the contract negotiations are resolved quickly and amicably.
Yesterday I held my first Donuts in Driveway event in my neighborhood. I invited my neighbors and it was shared on Facebook. I have several more planned during the coming weeks. Please be on the look out!
Today’s article stresses the importance of researching and knowing all candidates. Social media presence is one tool. Campaign pages, news articles, and any public forums are others. Attending meet and greets are essential.

I look forward to listening to the concerns of our community and sharing my vision for our school district.
