Been on a bit of a hiatus, it was good, it was cleansing. We're back. What better way to be back than to have a "kick off" post of the glamours of powder coating. I'm the guy who takes you on the ride of powder coating. Here at the shop today, it's hook cleaning day! Yayyyy. But for real, we only show you the process and the finished product, but here's a sneak peak on the "process." I have a 10,000 piece job in so it's constant racking, painting, "un-racking," and cleaning to do the cycle all over again. So with 10,000 pieces, that's 40,000 hooks.. if you have 40,000 hooks, I'm jealous. Here at my shop, after every load we take off the rack, we sandblast the hooks and rods. This is the mess it looks like after i separate them, when they come out of the tumble blaster, it looks like a diaper genie sausage 🤣
Anyway, have a great Monday and i hope your week is as beautiful as youse.
Stay tuned. Please.
Here we have some custom metal work from a friend for a firefighter friend of mine done in flat black (RAL 9005) came out smoother than a babies ass and looks perfect. This is exactly what the customer was looking for when he asked me to paint it. Stay safe out there my friends
I'll let the customer unbox this one.
Coming soon
should i do it? 😂😂😂😂
Busy day today. Hot day today, it's 96* here in New Jersey and about 119* in the back by the oven.
Here we have some server parts finished in a granular(fancy word for small texture) semigloss black. Stay tuned for tomorrows video where I'll show you how the bowser "builds" and the particular settings i have my nordson encore set for this job/temp/humidity.... yes, that plays a factor into powdercoating.
As always, stay safe out there and DM for quotes, "how to", or whatever. We can just fireside chat if you'd like.
What do youse do when you forget your belt? Rope? Twine? Zip ties? Zip ties 😏🫡
Sorry for the bit of a hiatus, but sometimes it's warranted. On todays episode of we're going to be mixing up some GOOOOOOOLLLLLDDDDDDD.
So what i do is spray a base coat which in this case will be a chrome stock color, then we're going to mix some of that flashy gold into some clear as a carrier (think of it as a mid coat in hvlp painting) then we're going to hit it with some flake and finally a clear to bring some depth to the pearl. Now i don't know how this will work, but I'm going for a "chrome-esq" 24kt gold look. All product for this project is purchased through my buddy Carl over , give him a follow also check out his website at onlyflake.com (👈🏻not a joke lmao)
PLEASE stay tuned today, because i have a feeling this color will not disappoint.
It's not all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows here at the shop, sometimes we have to make money the old fashioned hard work kinda way.
In the shop today and for the rest of the week is "gubment" jobs. The first picture is c channel for some server racking, the second job is a top secret job. Just kidding they're lock parts of sort.
As always, DM with questions or quotes.
