Most people won’t believe this but the day I heard Da Drought 3 by lil Wayne is the day I decided to be a rapper. I had always written poetry but something about his word play and southern twang made me feel like i had a place in hip hop. Prior to that I believed that Hip hop belonged to the east coast and that southern interpretations of it were destined to stay underground. Boy was I wrong. My best friend at the time lent me her burned copy of Da Drought 3 chopped and screwed and the rest was history. I went home and scribbled my first rhymes and recorded my first ever song with my friends in the school tech lab when I was 14…. On that track Im doing my best “Wayne impression” haha eventually I found my sound and my message but thank God for Mixtape Wayne for the inspo 🤣
