Yesterday, Minister Randy Boissonnault, announced the launch of the Upgrade Your Skills advertising campaign to inform Canadians about financial supports and programs available to help them gain the skills needed to succeed in today’s labour market.
The campaign runs from February 5 until March 31, 2024, and targets youth (age 18 to 24) looking to start their career and adults (age 25 to 54) looking to upskill and change or improve their career.
"Investing in the workers of today, means experiencing a successful workforce tomorrow. We must provide for workers so they have the right skill sets to find higher paying jobs, protect our standard of living and build a stronger, more resilient Canadian economy," said Minister Randy Boissonnault.

Last week, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages, Randy Boissonnault, announced up to $25 million in funding for the First Nations Human Resources Development Commission of Quebec for their project, Global Strategy for Indigenous Employability. This project aims to increase the number of Indigenous people in employment or vocational training in communities and urban areas.
"Everyone benefits when Indigenous people are provided with the opportunities they need to fully participate in the workforce. The Skills and Partnership Fund empowers more Indigenous people with the training and resources they need to shape their own career path," said Minister Randy Boissonnault.

Recently, the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Official Languages, Randy Boissonnault, announced up to $86 million in funding to 15 organizations across Canada to increase capacity for foreign credential recognition of approximately 6600 internationally educated health professionals. This investment will support highly educated and skilled immigrants to receive proper recognition for their international credentials.
"Honouring the professional credentials of newcomers is a compassionate and effective component of expanding Canada’s workforce. The Foreign Credentials Recognition speeds up the accreditation for 6600 people, and is not only the right thing to do, but one of the best ways we can fill labour gaps, strengthen our healthcare system and grow our economy," said Minister Randy Boissonnault.
