Ahhhh Summer time.
Sun, fun, water, beaches, vacation and more. Let's all admit that snow and ice are a bit taboo over the summer months, so here at Chasing the Checkers, we are going to take the summer off. We will be back with more interviews and content starting September 6, 2023.
Now, if there is breaking news or something extremely relevant to the ice oval race world, we will check in and share what we know. But until then, enjoy the off season.
See you soon.

We are truly honored to have John spend a few minutes with us as we talk all things snowmobiling. This episode is worth the time. Thank you John. Your time is much appreciated.

CMPR - Central MN Pond Racing. Grass roots racing at its best. Race day is relatively inexpensive, but well organized; lots of laps but not congested with lots of regulations. Racing the way it was back in the day.
Mike Meagher (and his daughter Bobbi Jo) run one heck of series all for the fun or it. Primarily lake based venues requiring assistance from Mother Nature. But it still takes a lot of work. Join us as we catch up with Mike and learn more about CMPR.

Podcast release tomorrow at 4 PM. Mike Meagher with CMPR. Don't miss it.

CMPR - Central Minnesota Pond Racing. Mike Meagher, with help from Bobbi Jo, run what is arguably the best grass roots ice oval racing series out there. Localized weekend racing at it's best. Just look at the junior class in the photos below.
So let's find out what the founding principals are for CMPR to be successful. Who makes the call? What's the goal? There is so much to know and so little time. This episode of Chasing the Checkers will open the door to ice oval racing at it's core. Don't miss it.

Not sure there is a better word than consistent to describe the 220 Sterne Racing team. And the start to the 22-23 season was no exception. But from that point forward, several uncharacteristic events unfolded.
Gunnar Sterne has a strong, credible opinion on a number of items to help the sport of ice oval racing. On this edition, we touch on a number of subjects making the 30 minutes very well spent. Hope you enjoy this episode of Chasing the Checkers.

We go way back, and I mean way back. I have had the good fortune to celebrate some of the highest achievements with Blaine Stephenson and I've also been close to him during some of the challenging moments in his career.
But what I treasure most is Blaine's honesty. His opinion may be different than mine (or his other competitors) but he has always shot straight with me. Something I truly cherish. Knowing that, it is easy to ask difficult questions and in this episode, you will hear some of that. It is a great episode of Chasing the Checkers with Blaine Stephenson. Enjoy!

A champion's insight - something not to miss.
Wednesday, April 19. 4 PM.
Blaine Stephenson #102
This past season, Blaine Stephenson spent a lot of time parking his #102 Polaris in victory lane. Winning a ton of heat races and five straight ProStar Cup Tour finals, winning almost became second nature. Add in the Bonnechere Cup, GPSV and the CPTC crown and this was a season for the ages.
But don't get me wrong. Not having the 5th WC title or the inaugural Sprint World Cup crown didn't sit well with this guy. Hear what Blaine has to say about the season and the bigger picture of sprint racing in this week's edition of Chasing the Checkers, Wednesday, April 19 at 4 pm.

I have known Matt Goede and the 3G race team for many years. Actually, way back to when both Matt and his brother Jacob lined up next to each other in many races. The 3G race team is always professional, attentive and fast.
In this episode of Chasing the Checkers, we talk about being a World Champion on an F-III, being a Vintage World Champion, and pursuing a ProStar Cup Tour Championship. Matt just plain races a lot. Always one of my favorite people to talk to. Welcome to this edition of Chasing the Checker with Matt Goede.

Where do you start when it comes to questions for a driver so adaptable? He wins in Supermod. He wins in Pro Champ. He wins in F-III. He just plain old wins. And when he doesn't win, the calm, cool demeanor turns to eyes of steel, focus and determination.
Join me as I chat with #28 Matt Goede and talk all forms of racing. Always cordial, honest and open. Matt is a great guy; something you will see thru and thru during this episode of Chasing the Checkers. Join me, Wednesday, April 12 at 4 pm.

Putting a ton of miles on is nothing new to Lucas Nast and his Supermod race team. When your "home track" is only 3 1/2 hours away, you are obviously in love with this crazy sport of ice oval racing.
Chasing the Checkers is excited to venture into other disciplines of ice oval racing as we talk with one of the up and coming vintage Supermod racers. Vintage is another branch of ice oval racing with growing popularity. Join us as we learn a bit about the Supermod class, the desire to win and of course the Reese's / Snickers controversy.
Thanks Lucas for spending the time with us.
