Toes in the Water Art

And last of all thank you to everyone who contributed to the day. Artists….. the lovely on the zine making table, protest sign makers, folks who sang along with the bands… you were all amazing and made this event just so memorable ❤️

Our event would be so much less fun without the music. Thank you so much to all the bands who came and gave their time, and to for organizing the music for the day. Special mention to the ever joyful and wonderfully chaotic Southampton Ukelele Jam for rounding up the day. ❤️

Really sadly we couldn’t swim this year, as the water quality on the lower Itchen is so poor that it is a threat to health. Instead of our usual swim we decided to have a protest to raise awareness of the issue. We were happy to be interviewed by the BBC and a report should be on South Today (this evening!) as well as a piece on The Voice radio. Win!

Wow. Wow. What a day! Here is some of the art from the 3rd event. The artists work was just amazing and it was so fanatic to see people out enjoying the arts and supporting the protection of the river.

Tomorrow is the big day! Doors open at 10am, beautiful art, there is SO MUCH cake and amazing live music all day- finishing with Southampton Uke Jam at 3pm.

We will be holding our protest against pollution in the river at 1pm which is being covered by local media. Please come along and help us to protect the Itchen.

You may have noticed we have not advertised a group swim for this years event. This is because the water quality is so poor at that area of the Itchen- the organizer’s felt it was not safe.

Instead- please join us after Southampton Uke Jam have played, in a family friendly protest. We have materials for you to make a placard to wave- and we will try and support those looking to protect the river.

Please be aware that parking for St Denys boat club can be tricky. Please leave plenty of time for your journey and consider parking on the Bitterne Triangle side of the river and walking over. Walking or cycling are the parking stress free alternatives

Our swim today! We did get our ! Lots of happy swimmers and fabulous hats. Lovely to see old friends as well as make new ones. Lush.
