We first discovered this life hack when Ramona was doing baby led weaning age 9 months and I was home alone on maternity leave, and the only way I could cope with the prospect of dinner was by putting a rug in the back garden of our little London house and calling it a picnic. We quickly realised it had so many benefits: Hardly any dishes or mess to clear up, for one. But also it becomes a *doorway* to other activities like watching bugs, finding shapes in clouds, breathing that fresh air for a bit. These days, whenever I am feeling bla, on whenever we are having a rubbish mediocre day, whenever I am stuck for ideas but I know we all need soooomething, the answer is pretty much always found in eating hot food outside. 😆 It’s doesn’t have to be fancy! Today we made leek and potato soup and took it to a field in a flask. But last week it was fish and chips on a Cliff. Last month it was two minutes noodles in glass jars in a pine forest. The week before that it was roasting potatoes on the fire in the garden. Here’s why it’s so magic: 1- It’s an “anchor” - it anchors us into a few of our values such as: adventuring and being together. Expressing your values as you go about your life feels GOOD. 2- It’s a “doorway”. After we’ve eaten, it’s far, far easier to slip into something more creative, to lead into a fresh activity. We are in a different location, our minds are curious. The evensong of the birds captures our ears. The sunset snags our eye balls. Suddenly a walk on the beach fees appealing to everyone. Or a lazy snuggle while the grass tickles our arms. It’s such a simple thing that creates such magic, I’ve had to try and figure out how! Tell me your favourite foods to eat outside 👇 Hey!
