To improve the odds of finding the right person, HR needs to publish the job ad on various online recruitment websites, social media platforms, job search boards, plus traditional media like newspapers and other publications.

Wrong.

At any given time only about 20% of the workforce has an up-to-date résumé and is actively looking for work. Chances are, these aren’t the candidates you’re looking for because the best candidates are usually NOT actively looking for work.

Why? Because they’re probably the top performers in their company. They’re always busy and tasked to handle the most important projects by their boss. They don’t have the time to hang out on job search boards, online recruitment websites, or read the classifieds.
