What does autism look like? I wasn’t aware it had a certain “look”. Understandably, autism has been more widely known and researched in boys compared to in girls & women.

More & more information is becoming available so that those female adults who spent their lives feeling ‘different’, feeling like an imposter whilst pretending to fit in, just to seem “normal” to everyone else, can finally get some answers and realise that yes, they are different. But not in a bad way. Just unique 🫶🏻

I am autistic.
Some may say “high functioning”, I just say I’ve had plenty of years practice with masking 🤷🏻‍♀️
But as I’m getting older and going through more adult life stresses, I’m finding it a lot harder to cope and that’s why I sought out a diagnosis.

It’s been such a relief to know why I feel different, why noises and smells and textures give me sensory issues, why I get overwhelmed so easily, why I have always struggled with depression & anxiety, why I rub my feet together in bed and feel restless and bite my nails, why I bombard anyone I talk to with random information after they ask me 1 question, and so many other things.

Autism is a spectrum. Just because someone doesn’t look autistic, doesn’t mean they don’t struggle as much as any other autistic individual who may show more obvious signs 🫶🏻

I modelled for back last year, before being diagnosed, I discussed with them beforehand that I was incredibly anxious and really struggled with a lot of things, mostly being agoraphobic and needing my partner with me for things. They were SO accommodating, and every single person on that set that day made sure I was comfortable and looked after me, especially when I later fainted on the set. I just want to shout them out for that, because they are an incredibly inclusive company. 🥹

We all have different strengths & difficulties 🫶🏻 we are all valid 🫶🏻 we all need support 🫶🏻 we all need love 🫶🏻

We are all born beautiful. The biggest tragedy is the world convincing us we are not.
