Revolution on self- ثورة نفس is a self portrait series inspired by the quarantine phase due to the covid-19 lockdown. Being stuck at home in Montreal a day after my arrival to the city (March 2020) wasn’t easy to handle. I decided to play a game to stay sane and to get to know myself better as a woman. Through each image, I created a female character and lived her story for a day. Every woman has her own name, own state of my mind and own space; images all happening inside of the same location. Names of characters vary between western and middle eastern reflecting the dual identity of the artist while each image has its own way to empower women. this series accentuates the taboo “women” are abide to in our societies. it empowers freedom of women and emphasizes our duty to speak up as females in our world today. this series made me my own muse and made me open up through different facets exploring body and mind.
To accentuate the lockdown idea, all clothes and accessories used are from things I only have at home.
