We are a mixed farm in the Scottish Borders near Eyemouth. We grow a number of different crops, including a heritage barley variety which ends up in craft ales.
We also sell beef cattle at the local market to high quality butchers.

Spring drilling almost complete, we will get the last 20 acres of whole crop peas ๐ซ ๐ in tomorrow! A few pictures of our spring drilling campaign ๐พ! Big thanks to Thomas Sherriff & Co Ltd who kept us going with a demo of the 8RX 370 whilst the hire tractor ๐ was having some repairs done! KUHN power harrow munching through the acres! Great team effort from all ๐!
New cattle ๐ arrived this week from up North (Thainstone). The majority of these ladies will head out to grass โ๏ธ fairly soon ๐ค๐ผ! Wormed, vaccinated and straight into the shed!

This past week we have been busy ๐๐จ putting solid and liquid fertiliser on OSR / WW / WB / WO keeping everyone busy! Travelling surprisingly well ๐ง! Nearly all autumn ๐ sown crops have had some N! The ploughs have also been busy - not much spring ground left to go now!
Harrison & Hetherington are today delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Barrie as Market Manager for St Boswells & Wooler Marts.
Andrew brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the business having learnt his auctioneering craft with Caledonian Marts, Stirling and Lawrie & Symington, Lanark. More recently Andrew ran a very successful logistics franchise business operating 3 offices and employing 15 staff. In August 2023 Andrew sold the business to a management buy out.
Originally from a beef and sheep farm on the outskirts of Biggar Andrew now resides in Biggar with his wife Lisa and 2 children. Andew enjoys sport in his free time particularly football & rugby and being an ex Biggar Cornet continues to follow the Border common ridings on horseback.

Pumpkins will last for months if stored correctly. Please store in a cool dry place e.g garage or shed. They don't like to be stored in warm conditions! Don't carve your pumpkins too early as they will only last a few days once carved.

We made a start to Spring Drilling 2023 yesterday with some LG Diablo going in for Simpsons Malt Limited! The new Horsch Pronto Scot Agri making a cracking job on some ex sprout ground! Thomas Sherriff & Co Ltd 6215 ๐ of dreams quite happy on the front!
T0โs are go! Graham WW drilled on the 1st of September ready for its spray! Let the spraying commence!

What a cracking week ๐! Pearl WB for Simpsons Malt Limited looking ๐ in theโ๏ธ with Basil ๐ฟ๐ถ! Purchasing store cattle ๐ฎ on Thursday StBoswells&WoolerMarts - local YF Border Federation of Young Farmers had their show of overwintered cattle (sisters partner coming 3rd ๐ฅ with his bullock ๐คฉ)! Well Done too all those who entered, a fantastic show of stockmanship and hard work in presenting the cattle. 1st dose of nitrogen onto the WW along with the new drill ๐ arriving Horsch and Scot Agri ! Let Spring begin!

Mum has run the The Old Smiddy coffee shop for 35 years on her family farm just outside of St Abbs. On Monday she closed the doors for the last time to take on a new challenge! She has employed 3 children, 3 nephews, 3 nieces and many truly wonderful people who have helped her over the years! We couldnโt be more proud ๐!
