da Vinci may have said it best. "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication". That may be a good description of the songwriting of Hank Williams Sr. He could express emotions so eloquently and succinctly in his songwriting. He's written some of the best country songs that have stood the test of time. On the December edition of Country Miles, I'll be celebrating the centenary of Hank's birth with an hour of music by and about Hank Williams. Listen today at 1:00pm on WPPM FM PhillyCAM Community Radio. https://wppm.phillycam.org/
On the November edition of Country Miles, I'll be playing music from Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the top 100 country albums (50 - 1). You'll hear music from Dolly, Johnny, Tammy, and Patsy in addition to Kris Kristofferson, Iris Dement, Bob Wills, and Jimmie Rogers.

I remember clearly my friend Mark introducing me to The Eagles in 1973. We sat in his house and listened to the entire album front to back. The music had an acoustic feel and the production was slick. That was the pop music I listened to throughout the 70's. It was called country rock and for me, it was a gateway to more traditional country. Today on Country Miles, it's a peaceful easy feeling and the music that (mostly) defined the 60's and 70's.
