Early menopause 🌸 refers to the natural cessation of menstrual periods and the end of reproductive capability before age 45.

It occurs when the ovaries stop producing estrogen and progesterone hormones earlier than expected. This can lead to symptoms such as:

➡️ Irregular periods
➡️ Hot flashes
➡️ Mood changes
➡️ Vaginal dryness
➡️ Reduced fertility.

Why does it happen? 🤔

Multiple culprits team up – genetics, pesky medical conditions, surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and even lifestyle choices.

Prioritizing gut health is important because hormonal changes during menopause can affect the balance of bacteria 🦠 in your gut, leading to digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, and diarrhea.

Additionally, a healthy gut is essential for overall health, as it plays a role in nutrient absorption, immune function, and even mood regulation 😌

Here are some ways to give your gut the love it deserves:

→ Eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins
→ Incorporate probiotic-rich foods like yoghurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi
→ Getting regular exercise
→ Managing stress levels
→ Staying hydrated

For personalized suggestions about gut health and menopause, please speak with your healthcare provider.

During menopause, the body undergoes many changes, including hormonal shifts that can affect various bodily functions. One of the common problems experienced by menopausal women is the increased risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) 🌸 This is because the decline in estrogen levels can cause changes in the va**nal pH balance, making you more prone to bacterial overgrowth.

UTIs can cause symptoms such as pain or burning during urination, frequent urination, and even fever or chills. To minimise the risk of UTIs during menopause, women should maintain good hygiene habits, stay hydrated, and speak to their healthcare provider about any concerning symptoms.

There are medications available to assist you with ongoing UTIs, but always consult with your doctor before trying anything new 💙

Osteoporosis and menopause are closely linked, as the decrease in estrogen levels during menopause can lead to bone loss and an increased risk of osteoporosis 🦴

Estrogen plays a key role in maintaining bone health, and when levels of this hormone drop ⬇️ during menopause, bones can become weaker and more susceptible to fractures. Other factors that can increase the risk of osteoporosis include:

→ family history of the condition
→ smoking
→ excessive alcohol consumption
→ lack of physical activity.

Fortunately, there are steps women can take to reduce their risk of osteoporosis, such as maintaining a healthy diet rich in calcium and vitamin D ☀️ engaging in weight-bearing exercises, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) should also be considered for bone protection during menopause.

Your body temperature is controlled by your brain. It’s why you get a fever 🔥 when you’re sick, or shiver 🥶 when you’re cold. But during menopause, hormonal changes impact your brain.

This can lead to a whole host of frustrating symptoms, like hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia, anxiety and depression. But there’s good news too: YOU can influence your brain 🧠

A study from the National University of Singapore proved that people can control their core body temperature with their mind. Another study from Baylor University showed that a similar technique could be used to effectively control menopause symptoms. In this study, 187 post-menopausal women were able to significanty control the frequency and severity of their hot flushes.

Until now, it’s been difficult for women to benefit from this incredible research. Finding an in-person therapist with the right training, skills and price was a near impossible task.

But, with Evia, you can access this groundbreaking science from home 💙

More hair on your brush and less luscious locks on your head? This could be a sign of menopause. Hair can thin during this transition period due to lower levels of estrogen and progesterone and higher levels of testosterone.

If you've noticed thinning or breaking hair, you're not alone. Research shows that by the time women are 70 years old, over 1 in 3 will experience female-pattern hair loss.

To support healthy hair growth, make sure you’re eating well, staying hydrated, exercising, and getting a good night’s sleep! You can also speak with a healthcare provider about available behind-the-counter options 💙

Shifting ⬆️⬇️ levels of estrogen during perimenopause can produce changes of all sorts to your va**na and your v***a!

The v***a is your external ge****ls and is made up of your cl****is, the opening to your va**na, the opening of the urethra, and the l***a. The l***a are the folds of skin that you have outside your va**na. It acts as a protective covering for your va**nal opening and has two parts: the outside layer (l***a majora) and the inside layer (l***a minora). The l***a majora may start to lose its fatty padding during perimenopause and start to thin. At the same time, the l***a minora may also thin, leaving the opening of the va**na, as well as the cl****is, more exposed to chafing and irritation.

Before menopause, your va**na is elastic, with many folds, to stretch during s*x and childbirth. As your estrogen declines, the walls become thinner, less elastic, and drier. This is known as Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) or vulvova**nal atrophy. And while it is thought that 50 to 70% of post-menopausal women experience some level of GSM symptoms, it is also thought to be seriously underreported and underdiagnosed.

If these pesky va**nal symptoms become difficult to manage or significantly impact your daily life, always be open with your healthcare provider. They’re here to help and can assist you in finding the right management tool 💙

Soybeans are a protein derived from East Asia, but now the United States, Brazil, and Argentina produce around 80% of the world’s soy 🤯

You may have heard that eating more soy is an ideal way to ease menopause symptoms. That’s because soy contains phytoestrogens, a substance that mimics estrogen. It’s thought that by increasing your consumption of these foods, you can ‘replace’ some of your estrogen and reduce your symptoms.

For many women, increasing the intake of soy food feels like a ‘safer’ and more natural option than using hormone replacement therapy (HRT). But it’s important to understand that even though soy is a natural product, it may still come with risks and that phytoestrogens have been linked to both an increase and reduction in the risk of breast cancer. This is why it’s recommended you speak to a healthcare provider before deciding whether to introduce more soy into your diet.

Foods that are rich in soy include:

➡️ Edamame
➡️ Miso
➡️ Tofu
➡️ Tempeh
➡️ Soymilk
➡️ Cooked soybeans

Have you been eating more soy since entering menopause? Why or why not?

For women facing breast cancer, hormonal treatments can come with their own challenges, one of the most bothersome being hot flashes 🔥

Estrogen is thought to fuel the growth of breast cancer cells and many breast cancer survivors are prescribed selective estrogen receptor modulators, such as Taximofen, to reduce their estrogen production and therefore the opportunity for cancer to regrow. This can lead to menopause-like symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats.

In 2008, Dr. Elkins released a study 📖 into the use of hypnotherapy as a hot flash management tool for breast cancer survivors. The study took women through five weekly hypnotherapy sessions and by the end of the treatment period, he noted that the frequency and severity of hot flashes had decreased by almost 70%. Some women found that their hot flashes disappeared altogether.

They also reported significant improvements in anxiety, depression, sleep, and how hot flashes interfered with their daily activities.

Most menopausal symptoms are triggered by your brain 🧠 in response to falling estrogen levels. Evia uses a mind-body therapy called hypnotherapy to help you teach your brain how to adapt to new hormone levels. Hypnotherapy is a clinically proven technique that’s recommended by experts, including The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

Here’s what real women are saying:

🔥 ”My hot flushes feel noticeably better and less disruptive for my sleep!”

⭐️ ”If only I had this when I was also struggling with hot flushes at work, I might not have retired as early as I did.”

😍 ”I can’t believe this is working, but I’m so thrilled it is!!!”

Try Evia today to see exactly how it will work for you and your symptoms.

You may have noticed a change in your body odor since entering menopause.

“Did I forget to put deodorant on this morning?!” you may ask yourself, and while the answer could be maybe (🤭), the culprit is not your memory, but your fluctuating hormones. The natural drop in estrogen can cause you to sweat more, which as a result, can present with a stronger smell.

What can you do to keep yourself feeling fresher for longer?

💧 Wash your armpits at least twice per day
💧 Remove hair to prevent accumulation of bacteria and trapped odor
💧 Use antiperspirant and deodorant
💧 Wear breathable clothing (cotton is great!)
💧 Keep your clothes clean and regularly washed
💧 Try hypnotherapy for hot flashes

We hope this helps!

Shifting estrogen levels during menopause can play havoc with your libido, which can lead to a lowered s*x drive and painful in*******se.

If you’re looking for ways to keep s*x fun and pleasurable, lubricants may just be your new best friend!

You have a few different options here, so let’s break them down:

💙 Water: Water-based lubricants are safe to use during s*x and with condoms. It’s a great option for those with sensitive skin, and also leaves behind less of a mess!

💙 Silicone: Silicone-based lubricants are also safe to use during s*x and with condoms. The only downside is they may stain sheets, so consider laying down a towel.

💙 Oil: Oil-based lubricants should NOT be used with condoms, but it is known to last longer than water-based l**e.

If you’re experiencing va**nal dryness and/or painful in*******se, don’t stress! You’re one of the millions of women experiencing this, so you most certainly aren’t alone. If the dryness is getting you down, speak to a healthcare provider and they’ll be able to set you on the right path for your circumstances.
