LCPC and LCAT-VAWC Hold 2nd Quarter Joint Meeting: Functionality Audit in Focus
The Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) and the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Violence Against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) convened for their second quarter joint meeting on April 23, 2024 at the Almeria Municipal Annex Hall. The meeting focused on the orientation and presentation of the Functionality Audit Documents.
This joint session aimed to ensure both councils are familiar with the Functionality Audit Documents, which assess their effectiveness in addressing child protection and anti-violence against women and their children concerns.
This collaborative approach between the councils demonstrates their commitment to working together to create a safer environment for children and women in the community.
Almeria LGU VAWC focal persons, along with Barangay (BLGU) officials, participated in a training session on Domestic Violence Response conducted by the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU) in collaboration with the Biliran Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Biliran.
The training, held on April 16, 2024, at the BiPSU Gymnasium, aimed to strengthen the capabilities of barangay officials in addressing domestic violence incidents within their communities.
Almeria's Punong Barangays, Sangguniang Barangay Members serving as focal persons for VAWC and BCPC, and Barangay Secretaries were among those who participated in the session.
The training program equipped participants with the necessary skills to effectively handle domestic violence cases. Atty. Corazon Aguilar-David's presentation, titled "Skills and Enhancement Training: Essential for Effective, Efficient, and Accountable Public Service Delivery by Barangay Officials," provided valuable insights and strategies.
This initiative underscores the critical role of barangay councils in working alongside local authorities to combat domestic violence and ensure the safety and well-being of women and children in Almeria.
This week, the Local Government Unit of ALMERIA unites with the entire nation in commemorating the 2024 Girl Child Week.
Under Presidential Proclamation No. 759, series of 1996, every fourth week of March is dedicated as the “Protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week.” This observance is a call to action to elevate awareness and champion the cause for equal opportunities and safeguarding the rights of all girls across the Philippines.
This year's theme, "Abante, Batang Babae: Labanan ang Karahasan!”, underscores our collective resolve to combat violence against girls and promote an environment where they can thrive free from harm, with equal chances to realize their full potential.
It is a clarion call to all sectors of society to advance our efforts in creating a safer, more inclusive, and equitable world for every girl child.
Let us all contribute to this noble cause, ensuring every girl's future is bright, secure, and filled with endless possibilities!
