A page for my art, tunes, and words.
Ursula Southeil's (Mother Shipton's) Cave, Knaresborough. A sketch for a damp day yesterday.
Today's effort, a collection of Oak leaves. Ink and coloured pencil.
And this is Hagley Castle, Worcestershire.
This afternoon's efforts. A foggy winter's day near Skilgate. First time since coming down with this stupid cough that I have felt like breaking out the pencils!
Today's effort, Avebury Stone Circle. Where 'Children of the Stones' was filmed.
Mitre Peak, Milford Sound, NZ. Fantastic place!
This is an ornamental cherry wood crotch bowl. Unfortunately, the photos don't do the colours or patterns justice.
I sometimes like to give myself just a short time to practice. I'm trying to improve my work on buildings. This is Framlingham Castle and Mere, Suffolk, England. It took me 20 minutes.
Getting ready the new pictures for the Wivey Street fair on September 10th. These are originals but prints are available. Aonach Eagach, Crib Goch, Striding Edge, and The Cuilin.
A little cherry wood project after work this afternoon.
As a set, I think these have turned out quite well. Prints will be available in due course.
This might be the last of these for now as I am thinking of other things to draw. This is The Cuilin on the Isle of Skye.
Striding Edge, Helvellyn. Whilst with BTCV years ago I helped lay the stone path at the bottom of the climb up to this. A spectacular place.
The public votes have now been counted and A Portrait of Death has been placed in the top 20. So proud of my beautiful Rhen Garland . No further news just yet but we can let you know more as and when we have it
Another one of Crib Goch, Snowdonia. Really enjoying working with the pencils at the moment.
And this is Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich. Pencil on aged paper.
Today's offering is a pencil sketch of Aonach Eagach, the north ridge of Glencoe. A most awesome and desolate place.
Tried something different today. This is Aysgarth Falls, in pencil and wash.
Another quick sketch in pencil. Snowdon and Crib Goch Ridge.
A five minute sketch in between house work chores. A sunlit woodland in pencils and watercolour.
For Kay and Heather
Faces in the rain
Each soul a crystal droplet
The sky’s tears’ sombre waltz
Across the rain washed window
Each one shines a memory
Of faces past and gone
Some stand in the mind
Beacons in the grey
Some barely remembered
Lost along the way
I watch another dancing past
The waltz goes on forever
These windows into memories
Contrails formed from weather
Faces swim and fade
Family, friends, liked and loved
The time will come
When rain clouds clear
Yet the windows hold remembrances
Of faces in the rain
A brief sketch to pass the time. I called this 'Windows to the Soul'.
A whimsical little sketch this afternoon. I called it 'Words of Wisdom '.
From A Portrait of Death, by Rhen Garland. One of the characters experiences a dramatic change in fortune...
A brief sketch today, The Eye of Sobek (Crocodile headed God of Egypt)
At least waking up at 5am meant I could finish my latest sketch, 'Homeward Bound'.
Book 4 in the Versipellis Mysteries by Rhen Garland is coming together nicely ready for release later this year. It is set in Egypt on the Nile, and Caine and Thorne have to deal with some very unsavoury characters. Some of whom have been dead for quite a while...
Another quick sketch on 'aged' paper. Heading Out - "Jeg vil være førstemann"
A quick sketch for a warm afternoon. I called it 'Dusk till dawn I'm walking'.
Today we have been enjoying the May Day sun at the Milverton Street Fair. An excellent day, and we did quite nicely!
