“A Walking Tree”

From a land so barren
There was a tiny sprout
A seedling which thrived
And there yearned to grow
This poor soul,
So lost and forlorn
Its only sight is the crusty soil
Oh, ever so dry
Raindrops must be gathered
For water to reach below

Pores laid eyes upon the horizon
A fresh sight of its fellow color
A thin line of its leafy sample
If days toll this measly plant
Her unwavering passion
Thus, its only weapon

Root by root
There she goes
A tiny step is all she took
Release one, plant the other
Dime stretches its distance
Week nonchalantly passed
As a stranger of time
This travelling seedling
Could hardly walk

Though uneducated
Such unbothered stranger,
To the resilient plant,
Is its best teacher
Each stretch of her limbs
Is its grip to the ground
Rain turns so rare
Not a drop, not a sound
This tree so humble
It recognized the wind
Daring to bend
By gust to its knees

“A walking tree”
It sounds outrageous
The Seasons have gone by
Will it reach its destination?
A year like a decade
The journey of the century
It could finally end
As its branches crawl
It pants in exhaustion
The sight of grass
Brought her emotions
Though when she stood back tall
There was no difference
All she hoped for
Were gone in an instant
For all there was now
Are stumps through the horizon

Regret knew her
Yet she did not recognize
For all its life was
The journey she’d leave behind
T’was the decision to set foot?
Or that she lived in delusion?
