- this is the first of Patanjali's Niyamas and it means cleanliness or purification.
This does not just aim at our physical body, personal hygiene and cleaning our yoga mat, this also includes our surroundings and minds.
Saucha gives us the ability to choose our habits wisely with the goal to keep our organism in its pure state and free of toxins. This includes:
πΊ What we consume - food, media, music, etc.
πΊ What we think - about the world, others and ourselves
πΊ How we talk, what we say
πΊ How we care for ourselves and for the environment
This is a good moment to observe yourselfπ
π Tapas π
Another of Patanjali.
Tapas comes from the word "tap", meaning "to burn". Any impurities that are burnt lead to purification. In order to grow personally, sometimes we have to take decisions outside of our comfort zone. But with discipline and intense practise of , , , or anything else that we set our heart and mind to, we purify ourselves - of course if our decisions are based on love and kindness towards ourselves and/ or others π
π Santosha π
is one of 's Niyamas - one of the virtues of Yoga and it means "Complete contentment".
Contentment with myself, with my body and my yoga practise, no matter how high that leg goes up, or how deep the hips sink down to the mat. No matter if the yogi next to me has a better balance today, I accept myself fully as I am.
I am content because I give my best every day on and off the mat. I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am content and most importantly, even when it gets difficult, I smile, because I know all is perfect.

π§π½ββοΈEka Pada Rajakapotasana or mermaid pose π§π½ββοΈ
One of my favourite poses, not only because of the nameπ It feels so good as it opens the heart, stretches the hips, quadriceps and chest.
Who doesn't love to be a mermaid?!π
Have you ever thought about how many toothbrushes you will use during your entire lifetime? It will be around 300! This is a lot, right? Also, did you know that if you laid out all the toothbrushes that get thrown away every year in the USA, they would wrap around our planet four times? Now imagine the garbage worldwide, just from toothbrushes!! And the worst of all is - most of these toothbrushes are not recyclable as they are made out of different kinds of plastic and the tiny parts would get stuck in the recycling machines.
The good news is that you can by using toothbrushes made of biodegradable material. For example, Bamboo-toothbrushes, which will be broken down by nature within one year only!
Do you want to make a ? Then start using bamboo-toothbrushes from now on.

π§Stretches your hamstrings
π§Strengthens your calf muscles, quads and hamstrings
π§ opens your heart
π§ Demands you to focus and be present
Have you practiced being present today yet? Asana practice helps us being in the here and now. But it's only one of many ways. Just stop for a moment, inhale deeply and notice how you feel right now. Happy weekend π€
Are you shining right now? Just a little bit? Take a few minutes this weekend to think about what it is that makes your soul shine brightly βοΈ
It is in you. Find that spark and ignite your light.
Because nothing can dim the light that shines from within. Let your light shine as bright as the sunπ

Plastic straws.
They suck. They pollute. They kill.
They affect seabirds, fish, turtles, dolphins and many other species.
I found those on a beach in Brasil within 2 minutes.
Luckily, in many parts of the world people stopped using them, or at least people have become more aware of their impact on nature.
Everyone can make a difference.
Do you?
For example by saying "no" when being offered a ?
π³ Vrkasana - Tree pose π³
Requires balance and coordination.
Have you tried it on an uneven ground? Watching the ocean, a lake or flowing water?
It's a little extra challenge- give it a try π
π¦π§ Have you ever thought about the qualities of water? π§π¦
Here some ideas:
π It is flexible
π It always finds a way
π It is calm and soothing, but it can also be strong and wild
What other qualities can you adopt from water?
