As the world comes together to tackle COVID 19, let's make sure that addressing one crisis does not come at the expense of another.
On Tuesday, we will have our last wave of distribution of vegetables to the remaining barangays in Mercedes. The target is one ton of vegetables and root crops which costs around 28k based on the last expense report posted at https://www.facebook.com/100766448262733/posts/118880846451293/.
We are still accepting donations of any amount and in kind one last time for us to reach more households.
No amount is ever too small to give. Endgame na. All in na 'to. Tara, G?
Last April 21, 2020, we had our third wave of distribution of vegetables to barangay poblacions in Mercedes, Camarines Norte. We were able to purchase a total of 1,003 kg of vegetables and root crops, with a total of 1,530 packs distributed. Also, 47 of 55 packs for severely underweight kids were already given.
With this ongoing initiative, we are still accepting donations of any amount and kind, which will be of great value for it to reach more people who equally deserve access to adequate, and nutritious food, consistent with the fundamental right to be free from hunger.
For us to reach more households, we again humbly ask for donations as we are about to do our last wave of packaging and distribution. A donation as little as P20 can already provide of vegetable/root crops to one household.
To our donors and volunteers, maraming, maraming salamat po! ❤️
This is the time that we need to look out for each other. Donations of any amount and kind, will be of great value for this iniative to reach more people who are in need for assistance.
So far, we were able to distribute 48 of 54 packs of ration to severely underweight children. A pack covers 5 HH members, (based from the PSA data of average household size in the municipality) for 10 days. Contents should provide 1,000 kcal per person per day (half of daily total energy needs), with at least 35 g of protein as per recommendation cited in UNHCR/WFP and WHO guidelines in Nutrition in Emergencies. We have also distributed over one ton of vegetables or over 2,000 vegetable packs as complementary ration of rice and canned foods distributed by the LGU.
In emergency contexts, it is important to reaffirm the fundamental right of everyone to have access to adequate, and nutritious food, consistent with the right to be free from hunger.
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."

Based on the most recent data available, there are 54 severely underweight children aged 2-5 in 9 barangay poblacions in Mercedes, Camarines Norte. They are the major beneficiaries of our initiative. As much as we want to cover all 26 barangays, our logistics are limited.
So far, we were able to distribute 22 of 55 packs of ration.
We couldn't thank enough all our donors for making all of these possible. ❤️
On behalf of the 22 of 55 households with a severely underweight child and over 600 HH who received vegetable packs, thank you, donors!
On going pa po ang aming initiative. Sa mga gusto pong tumulong through donations or through labor, bukas pa din po ang aming mga contacts para sa inyo. We repack over 300 kg of vegetables and distribute over 600 packs every wave.

For when there are five people who belive in the same cause, an initiative arises; and an initiative, no matter how little, ripples, and may impact change.
Undernutrition and infectious diseases are tightly linked in a self-reinforcing cycle.
We, the graduates of Mercedes Elementary School Class of 2006, recognize the lockdown of communities brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic as a cause of exacerbation of malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies among children. This may add greatly to the burden of disease and mortality, and make intense additional demands on already scarce resources. With this initiative, children of Barangay San Roque, will be given special attention to address this problem.
With every donation, donors will be given free nutrition and diet services and all proceeds will be given in the aid of curbing malnutrition.
For details, message us through our page, Tara Ambagan, G? or text us at 09065944450.
