This year we dedicated one of our new raised garden beds to cut flowers. These evening burst sunflowers are absolutely beautiful and have brought a little sunshine inside during these cloudy days.

Our girl is still on the struggle bus. We don’t know if she’s going to make it but we are doing everything we can to help her make it through. Her injuries are improving but she has a very hard time walking and doing anything on her own. We think she may have had a stroke caused by her injuries because of her poor mobility and inability to be independent. We give her water through a syringe several times a day to keep her hydrated. We also give her baby purées through a syringe to make sure she is getting protein and calories.
I’m not ready to give up on her. We’re going to fight for our Estelle. The kids understand she’s not doing well and try to lift her spirits by talking to her and petting her. Austin even drew her a picture and propped it up by her. ❤️

CHICKEN FACT FRIDAY
DID YOU KNOW THIS?
When a rooster crows it partially pinches shut its ear canals so it won’t deafen itself.
When we first picked up our birds last spring all of them were supposed to be females. However, 2 of them turned out to be males. I can understand why they close their ear canals when they crow. It is quite an unpleasant sound when it is repeated in your face over and over and over.
Pictured here is Atticus. He was a good boy most of the time but recently began being very aggressive towards our son. We got lucky and were able to find him the perfect home and he is thriving now.
