If you are interested in purchasing either of my two currently released animal novels,"The Warren" or "Melanie the Badger", I highly recommend going directly to the publisher.
www.redemption-press.com
On the site go to "Bookstore" at the top, then search the novels by Title in the search bar.
Hi everyone, please read.
My novel is now being seriously stolen from me. Please read all of the below before buying The Warren novel.
Went to Amazon.com to check, and there are now about 20 book dealers selling the "Tate Publishing" edition of the novel on Amazon.
The Tate Publishing edition of The Warren novel of 2011 is pirated work, and I get nothing from it.
My ONLY Authorized Publisher is "Redemption Press" and the Redemption Press edition is the 2017 edition.
Don't search "The Warren Fred L. Tate" That takes you to the stolen edition.
Only search "The Warren Redemption Press" And always cross check the edition date and publisher name.
Pull up the picture of the back of the book on the The Warren novel's Amazon page and look at the bottom right of the picture. The publisher name is there. Never buy the Tate Publishing edition, that is stolen work.
Tate Publishing cheated over 2000 other writers and me out of most of our royalty checks for sales of our books. They also cheated an entire Tate Publishing Music Branch of Musicians and Singers, and 1000 outsourced employees in the Philippines out of their payments for work provided.
Tate Publishing claimed I only sold 333 copies of the novel (Hey, they claimed to be a "Christian Publisher" and 333 is half of 666, so that must have been a Freudian slip.), and most of the people I know kept their copies, but copies of the 2011 Tate Publishing printing of the novel are still selling as "Used' on Amazon.
Which brings me toâŚBefore they were shut down by the Oklahoma City District Attorney on at least five felony charges, Tate Publishing had managed to run up a 1.8 million dollar Xerox bill, and a 1.7 million dollar printing bill from the printer of their books.
This cannot be done over a long period of time, or both Xerox and the Printer would have pulled the plug on further costs until they were paid. Hence those costs had to be run up very shortly before Tate Publishing folded.
Then, many, many, copies of my novel suddenly began selling as "Used" on Amazon, and Tate Publishing claimed I only sold 333 copies over five years of sales. See a pattern?
Somewhere there is a warehouse, or storage locker, full of former Tate publishing books being sold as used. Or they are now simply printing them and selling them without regard for copyright
Please do NOT buy the 2011 copies, they are probably stolen work.
My ONLY publisher is "Redemption Press", so if you buy the novel type in "The Warren Redemption Press" in the search bar of whatever site you are buying it on.
Or please go directly to the Redemption Press web site to buy from them.

Melanie the Badger is being sold by Christianbook.com, and apparently it's selling better there than on Amazon! :-)

The more I look at my new novel "Melanie the Badger" the more depressed I get...And angry.
I keep discovering more and more "Mistakes" the Editor made. Mistakes that would been impossible for any Editor not to have discovered, if she had actually proofread her own edit after editing it. Examples are below; another example is "Now and now". Yes "now and now" is actually in there.
Either she was too busy to read her own edit after doing it
Or she simply didn't care since this was not one of her own novels, and she was supposed to be a published author and an editor.
Or she did a horribly bad edit deliberately. In that case I know why; from the year 2000, "We cannot publish your novel and we cannot tell you why"
Now read the below; it's very long.
When you read Melanie the Badger; be aware that some "mistakes" in the novel are not mistakes, they are deliberate.
Some of the other mistakes actually are mistakes due to the fact I had to literally re-edit my entire novel, after the assigned editor did a high-speed hatchet job on it without bothering to proofread her own hatchet job after editing the novel, and I missed a few mistakes while re-editing it myself.
In his novel "The Long Patrol" Brian Jacques used Cockney dialog throughout the novel as the language of the rabbits within the novel.
In Melanie the Badger I also give Melanie her own tongue throughout the novel, as I gave the rabbits of my rabbit novel The Warren their own languages.
The Warren novel from the point of view of prey creatures, Melanie the Badger from the point of view of a predator.
Expect to find Melanie talking in her own tongue in her own fashion throughout the novel.
Instead of "plant eaters" Melanie refers to prey creatures as "planteaters", single word.
It may be different from the writing you are familiar with, but it always leads into something to come later in the novel. Who else did this in his own century? Edger Allen Poe.
As for the bad edit; surprisingly the editor was supposed to be a qualified editor, with her own novels edited and published. Apparently my novel simply wasn't important enough for her to check her own edit after editing.
Example: She replaced all my semi-colons with "comma and" (, and) with an obvious automatic computer edit.
Microsoft Word (Or whatever program she was using) Top right "Edit", "Replace All" replace semicolons with ", and" with no proofread afterwards.
Resulted in all the sentences reading strangely. (No proofread afterwards)
Example ", and but". And I missed a few of these in my own self-edit.
There is an example I missed in the "Crawling" chapter of the novel, and probably a few others in other places; so if you find a ", and" that makes the sentence read strangely, that's what she did and I missed it in my own edit.
She also tried to delete or change sentences or paragraphs I needed for the narrative, or that were necessary further on in the narrative.
"We go out at dusk." is always by itself, never part of another sentence. if you have read the novel, you already know what "We go out at dusk." means.
It was always intended to be a sentence by itself for a reason in the narrative, the editor integrated it into other sentences without consulting with me.
A very bad example of her failure to proof her own edit is in the "Apparitions" chapter of Melanie the Badger, near the end of the chapter when Melanie has to escape the valley.
I clearly established in the first section of that chapter that Meanie could not fit through the hole in the wall she finds on the other side of a road, instead she had to go through a hole under the road to get into the valley.
"I find a small hole through the tall, made-of-stones thing (The wall she finds), but it is far to small for my body to fit through."
The sentence that also established that before she enters the valley.
"But now that it is light I can see there is a large hole that passes underneath the flat surface, close to where I am hiding in this brush, with water flowing out from it from the stream"
At the end of the chapter, the editor changed my having her escape out the same hole under the flat surface that the water flowed through, to escaping from the hole in the wall. Yes the same hole in the wall that that she couldn't fit through in the first place.
Moral: Choose your editor carefully, and never simply assume from a resume that they will give your novel the same attention they give their own work, or that they in fact actually can edit. Especially when they will not even proofread their own edit after completing it.
Yes I am still angry. It took 18 years to finally get this novel published, and I still find mistakes that were missed in her edit, and in my own self-edit after I paid for the publishers editor to do that for me. Would you be angry as a writer?

Am having a tremendous amount of trouble actually getting reviews for both "The Warren" and "Melanie the Badger" published on the Amazon pages for the novels.
if you send a review to Amazon for either "Melanie the Badger or for "The Warren", and your review doesn't get published; please let me know. I may have to go social media on this one if the Amazon reviews for my novels are being dumped instead of being published. :-(
Here's a part of the Melanie the Badger novel, that wasn't put into the Melanie the Badger novel; the original "Forward" to the novel.
This was formatted, for submission to the book's editor; but was not actually edited, since it was to be left out of the final novel. Please bear with that "not edited" when you read it.
Enjoy. :-)
"Forward:
If this novel is to be read to children, or to be read by children, please read it carefully yourself first; there are descriptions of death inside it which children may find disturbing.
This novel is not intended for anyone who believes movie or television productions which always show predators just missing their prey; predators that always just miss their prey starve in nature.
If you want a âCute Predatorâ novel; where predators always miss their prey and nothing dies, this is not the book for you. Creatures will die in this book, and some of those creatures you may like very much by the time they die. Melanie is a predator; she thinks, lives, hunts, and kills as a predator, and she does not starve.
Before readers disagree with the reality of events in this novel, please remember this is a thing called âFiction.â, and somewhere into this story you will discover it is not simply just a badger story; it is a story of good and evil, using a badger to tell the story.
If some badger names, or some chapter names of this novel seem familiar; then you know world mythologies and religions.
All Christian references, including chapter headings are from the King James Bible; âKJV Ministers Bibleâ, Hendricksonâs Bibles printing; and I think you will like the direct parallels to several religious beliefs about charity and mercy found in chapters, âI Corinthians 13â: and âCaring for Preyâ. Told by a creature inside an animal novel this time; but paralleling the beliefs of many religions in real life.
There are other parallels to religious beliefs in this novel also; including how evil unchecked can slowly grow, until it is monstrous in many forms. But you will have to decide what those parallels are, and how they may relate to evil in real life.
With one exception; all of the names in this novel are from world mythologies, and match the characters of this novel. For example; the name of Melanieâs mother is from Ghanaian African beliefs, and matches her motherâs place in this novel. You will understand exactly how well it matches her motherâs place in this novel by the time you finish this novel.
Of all the different badger types Melanie is a âTaxidea Taxusâ, the American Badger; and the title of this book is a play on word. Of the family of animals âMustelidaeâ which includes Badgers, Ferrets, Martins, Otters, and Weasels; âMelanieâ is a name derived from âMelinaeâ the true name for the subfamily of Mustelidae; which includes all Badgers, except the honey Badger.
Experts will say badgers live in âSettsâ, not dens or burrows, and âSettâ is the correct term for badger homes; however encyclopedia reference sources commonly refer to badger homes as dens or burrows, and I have chosen to call them by the more familiar âBurrowâ term in this novel.
For readers who disagree with the emotions given to badgers in this book, please see the above comment about, âFiction.â; but in real life badgers actually do display; joy, grief, pain, and rage. They care for their young with great protectiveness; and play fierce games with each other when young for training on how to survive later in life, as do the young of many other predatory creatures
Predator or prey, all creatures feel emotions; and some badger protection groups report that rescued badgers can be as loving and as lovable as any cat, but unless you are really aware of the difficulties involved trying to adopt a badger as a pet is not recommended. Badgers have survived for a very long time as predators; and have strong jaws lined with sharp teeth, very long claws, and can be wild creatures indeed if you annoy them. Do not try to adopt American Badgers as âCute Pets.â if you like this novel; American Badgers have been reported to take on creatures as large as bears if they feel annoyed enough by them, and they can do serious damage to a human.
Readers, who have also read my other book âThe Warrenâ, will recognize some events in this novel also happened in both âThe Wallâ and âAnastasiaâ stories of that novel; in fact this novel deliberately parallels the Anastasia story of The Warren novel where required, told from the point of view of prey creatures in her story, told from a predatorâs point of view in this novel.
Yes this is the female badger of the âAnastasiaâ story in âThe Warrenâ novel, and her brief mention in âThe Warrenâ was the inspiration for this book.
She is fierce, loving, independent, proud; and deeply protective of her young. From the beginning of her life to the ending of her life, enjoy Melanie as she roams all the sets of seasons in her life; it begins at the end.

Well the former publisher of my rabbit novel "The Warren" finally received some justice, although I seriously doubt that I will ever see any stolen royalties owed to me from the settlement. They owe Xerox 0ver 1.8 million dollars, and their former book printer about 1.7 million dollars.
And two years after they were arrested, there are Tate Publishing "Used copies" of my novel "The Warren" still being sold on Amazon; despite the fact that most of the people I know on Facebook said they kept their copies, and Tate Publishing claimed The Warren "Only sold 333 copies in total" over five years of sales.
"Used"? Yeah right, as in there are still apparently a considerable number of "Used" copies still out there for only 333 copies ever sold.
Oh well; they did claim to be a "Christian Publisher", and 333 is half of 666, so I guess I know where they were coming from with that sales figure.
Please do not buy any "Used copies" of "The Warren" that list Tate Publishing as the publisher currently being sold through "third parties".
My current publisher is Redemption Press" and they are the only authorized publisher for my novel "The Warren", and for my new novel "Melanie the Badger"

If "Melanie the Badger" does well; I think I will skip a beat in the publication of more novels in "The Warren" series of novels (Yes it's a series :-) ), and have the first novel in my "Revenant" series of novels published. It's already finished and ready for an edit. It may take a while to actually be published, but it is coming.
It's radically different from "The Warren" series of animal novels; "The Warren" series of novels are about; happiness, love, loss, justice, and final resolution.
The "Revenant" series of novels are about a wolf in his forest, his young human companion, and pure vengeance for a wrong done to both of them; as he teaches her how to be a wolf, she teaches him how to be human, and they both go out together for justice.
You'll discover how they are able talk to each other in the novel; it very much has to do with that going out for vengeance for the wrong done to both of them thing.
The first sentence in "Melanie the Badger" was five words, "I can't remember my name.".
The first sentence in "Revenant" is three words, "Something hit me." and it rips directly into the novel from there.
There is no slow buildup as in "Melanie the Badger", "Revenant" gets right into it.
Already working on the next two novels in the "Revenant" series of animal novels; "Revenant: Dragon in the Snow", and "Revenant: Tyger, Tyger".
Yes it is spelled "Tyger, Tyger", read William Blake's "Songs of Experiance" "Tyger Tyger"
Enjoy. :-)

November 7, 2018 Added 16 more photos of the Bees on my Hummingbird Feeder today on my https://www.facebook.com/fred.l.tate.7 page Thought those of you who are Apiculturists or Entomologists might enjoy the close-up photos; and those who are not, might just like the photos.
The bees are out in November, since our weather has been so warm. No flowers are out in November for them to feed on, so they locked on my hummingbird feeder. The birds don't mind, and neither do I; the bees need the food for when winter finally does arrive, so I just keep filling it. :-)
Feel free to share if you do like them. Yes I did get close this is a regular 28mm-50mm lens; but as long as I don't bother the bees while they are working they leave me alone.
Not part of The Warren novel, but thought you might enjoy the photos anyway.
Its one weird weather November around here; temperatures are in the high 80s to low 90s, the Pepper trees are blooming again, and bees are back out instead of going into winter sleep. No flowers are blooming so the bees have found the closest thing they have to flowers is my Hummingbird feeder. Yesterday the fluid in it was two inches higher, and tomorrow I will re-fill it. Go for it bees, I'll keep it re-filled for you. Eight more photos are on my https://www.facebook.com/fred.l.tate.7 page. :-)
