How did I lose 18kgs in a few months? A lot of people asked me that. In summary, these are what I did:
- Consult with nutritionist from , I shared that my goal is to lose 18kgs and whatever she suggested, it has to be sustainable and enjoyable for me.
- I walked 10-20kms per day when I was traveling for 60 days in total and ate only salad, protein and a little carbs during those 60 days
- After that, I do intermittent fasting where I eat only two times a day. First meal after 11am & before 7pm if possible
- I still eat anything I like, but I try to be really mindful of the portion and nutrition
- Try to make better & healthier choices
- I still drink sweet ice coffee, but I very rarely consume sweet f&b other than that
- Avoid snacking (that’s unhealthy)
- The nutritionist asked me to do 30mins exercise per day (which i haven’t done regularly), but at least I try to have 5 thousands steps a day
I think one the important factors isn’t how expensive the program is, but how strong our will and how high our self efficacy in doing it. It’s also important to to be honest with ourselves and the nutritionist on our weaknesses and willingness to change. It all start with the mind. In my case, I had strong belief I can do it as I had been doing intermittent fasting and practicing diet that works for me years ago (because of acne problems) and I had my ideal weight for years. When you have strong belief and strong why to do it, it’s half the work already. The rest is discipline and consistency.
For anyone wanting to lose weight and be healthier for whatever reasons, I wish you good luck and I believe you can do it as long as you put your mind to it. Consult with professionals (nutritionist, psychologist/brain coach to help set your mind, PT/sport coach)as they will tailor the most suitable program effective to your lifestyle and preference.
