As Korsche left the organizationās base. He rushed towards his motorbike as he rode on it and put his helmet on. He began thrusting the motorbike and rode off towards the city with the humid wind blowing towards him.
The city was a decent place, well for Korsche that is. It has always been like that since Korscheās time in the world, though he does not usually interact with the people or leave the organizationās base during the time of his leisure. The city was filled with buildings almost rusted due to its time. The place was a tad dirty and barely had any maintenance from the people, and the people living there seemed like they were in some sort of poverty and hardship for long years to come.
āThe cityā¦ people living here are the only survivors from the warā¦ most of the organizationās lackeys are very confident that they are winning this war.ā
Korsche sighed as he traveled faster with his Motorbike by ramping up the engine. He didnāt want to be late and expected that the walls had already been breached by the demons when he came.
āI have the opposite feelingā¦ However, I need to show up a front towards the organization, they would have made me suffer if they see me doubting their abilities. I have no power to answer either wayā¦ After all, I am just their weapon.ā
Upon traveling across the Survivor's City. The sight at the end of it formed in Korsche's sight. It was the remnants of previous battles. Buildings were destroyed and toppled over each other; Homes lingered with dark smoke and scattered wood, stone, and other debris. The once filled with color and hope in the city turns into a depressingly dark and smokey land.
Korsche stops his Motorbike and parks it near a huge pillar with an abandoned building beside it. He hops off and lays his eyes on top of the pillar upon hearing a woman's voice.
"Oh? He's on his way?? Alright then. It's been a while since I last saw hā"
The woman with a braided ponytail in black hair was sitting on a huge pillar as she talked through her phone who just hung up on her.
"What? Oh, f**k.. They're always like this.
But can I really blame them? They have hated me since day one for no absolute reason!"
The woman waits patiently while pouting grumpily. She did not notice that Korsche had already arrived at the scene who listened to her nagging about the phone call.
It took her a while to notice him until she looked down to see a parked motorbike with a small person standing beside it. She immediately stood up knowing that it was someone she was supposed to meet.
"Korsche. It's been a while eh?"
The woman spoke in such a dignified and confident tone.
"Spare the pleasantries, Agathaā¦ We are here on a mission and nothing else."
The man said as his voice sounded monotonic and uninterested, this also sounded as if he was always serious.
"And I'm surprised you are here earlier than meā¦. Should be a good merit for you."
Korsche continued before Agatha could answer back.
"Instead of being grateful, you're giving me cold shoulders?
Ah. Whatever, there are around seventy of them. Most of them are probably hiding but some are visible. I don't know if they have seen me yet."
Agatha jumped off from the huge pillar and landed on her feet beside Korsche, who threw his helmet on his motorbike.
"Ughhā¦. The police department or whatever the f**k department there is, they are so incompetentā¦ There are already at least seventy demons you say? That penetrated the walls where they should HAVE BEEN protecting.
Well, whatever, don't startle or make flashy entrances towards themā¦. Though I suppose it would be impossible for you to do soā¦. After subduing the demons that entered the walls, we'll hunt down the ones outside of it."
Korsche groaned as if he was feeling annoyed. Agatha had to stick around to Korsche's nagging as if she was the one at fault.
"Why do I feel like I was the reason why you're mad right now.."
The woman then pulls out her katana from her waist. Counting the demons to be seen from where they are.
"Trust me, you're not the reasonā¦ Now, I'll let you handle the demons, I'll support you from behind until we reach the walls"
Korsche unties the crossbow and flail tied in his motorbike and grabs it.
"Let's go"
With an abrupt statement from Korsche, they started to move to the west where the woman thought that there were only a few of them in that spot. However, this started to gather attention from the demons as they started to run. Both of them heard one of the demons scream.
"Run! It's the two elite demon hunters! Retreat back to our general!"
"Huhā¦. This will be interesting, they finally sent out a general than the usual demon horde attack, let them retreat, we'll chase them all off outside the walls, it's way faster with that method."
Korsche said, analyzing what was ahead of him as he stared at the demons fleeing for their life. He then looked at Agatha waiting for a response, who seemed to be busy chasing off the demons.
"Haaā¦ haa yeahā¦ you go ahead, I'll be right behind you."
Both of them went on a move. As they entered inside the interior of the walls, climbing through what seemed like an endless staircase. Korsche started hearing Agatha's ramblings as they climbed up.
"Hey! I noticed something, nowadays the higher-ups are giving me endless missions. Yeah, I know that I'm just too much for them to handle but whenever I ask them about it why won't they give me an ans-"
"Agatha."
Korsche said in a stern and cold answer to stop her from her sudden ramblings.
"Enough, we still have work to do, our superiors will not favour you more if you keep up with that behaviour."
She looks up at her comrade with a surprised look.
"R-rightā¦ sorry I got carried away."
Agatha continues to follow Korsche without saying a word. This led to silence as the stomping of their feet rang around the place as they climbed up the stairs. Somehow this made Korsche feel a little uncomfortable but said nothing about it, nor has he shown any reaction.
Upon reaching the top of the interior of the walls. Korsche spun a door locking wheel to open the hatch door from the inside. They went out of the door as they stood up on the very top of the wall. Only to be greeted with an army of demons from below, their general was nowhere to be unrecognizable.
"S**tā¦. This may be a problem, there are only two of usā¦ it'll be su***de if we go down there, we need to find their general, they're our number one target for this mission."
"Hold on! Are you planning on shooting him from up here? Don't you think they'll spot us from here just by checking the arrow's direction?"
"They already know we are at the top of the walls, we made the other demons retreaā"
Korsche suddenly stopped as he noticed in front of them. Multiple small lights coming towards them from above. It seems like balls coated with oil to light on fire and were shot from a catapult.
"Get back inside the walls now!"
Korsche with a commanding voice, pulled Agatha from the side to usher her into following him. They arrived back on top of the stairs inside the wall as Korsche closed the door as quickly as possible.
"S**t! Agatha, go ask for backup if you can, there's a high chance we won't be able to finish this off."
Agatha hesitantly picked up her phone and opened it, only to look back at Korsche with eyes of doubt.
āDo I REALLY have to call them? Why canāt you just call them yourself, youāre the big shot of the organization.ā
Korsche looked at Agatha as if looks could kill she would have already been dead. Korsche said nothing and continued to look ahead at the door that he recently closed. He tries to focus on the matter at hand rather than on Agatha's complaint.
āFine! Fine! Have it your way, Iāll call them.
Agatha speaking, we're in the middle of an attack and we need a backup immediately!"
The person that Agatha was calling spoke to her.
āRequest denied, the higher-ups ordered all of us not to send backup or help towards the elite demon hunters. I apologize.ā
"WHAT? OH COME ON!!! YOU KNOW WHAT? STEP ASIDE YOUR HATRED TOWARDS ME JUST THIS ONCE!!! KORSCHE IS WITH ME!!"
But after that, the person behind the phone hung up on Agatha after having her call them.
"God damnit!!!!!"
She looks over at her comrade with her eyebrows furrowed furiously.
Korsche said as he stared up towards the door. The interior of the walls started to shake as slight dust fell from above. However, Korsche noticed that the impact wasn't as big as what a catapult ball would create.
"Thisā¦. The impactā¦ if those were catapult balls, they would have created a few dents from above by nowā¦. And I don't think I've seen them have any catapults from belowā¦. Could it beā¦ they're using fire magic?"
Agatha slaps her forehead with her palm as she groans in annoyance.
"Iā¦ My apologies Korscheā¦
Butā¦
They refused to help us."
āWe have no choice thenā¦ They wouldnāt care if we die on the battlefield today, might as well fight them head-on.ā
Korsche said in a defeated tone, as he ties his crossbow behind his back and picks up his flail for combat, he looks at Agatha with a serious face checking up on her if she is ready.
She tightens her belt where her sword handle was attached.
Agatha looks over to her friend as she nods.
āLetās goā¦ On 3ā¦ 2ā¦ 1ā¦ā
Korsche kicks open the door from below to enter the other side, only for them to greet a horde of demons on a bloodied battlefield. He suddenly flung his flail towards the horde of demons. It normally wouldnāt reach but unbeknownst to both, Korsche and Agatha. Their weapons were imbued with demons' blood making them have enhanced powers and magic in them. The lie the organizations told them was that it was special artifacts from the olden age that had special powers.
The flail flung and extended towards the horde of demons as the metal spike ball started to go off in flames hitting multiple targets at once and burning them. The demons writhing and cries in pain could be heard throughout the battlefield. This gives time for Agatha to get closer to the horde whilst she wields her katana.
However, they were both taken aback when the horde started clearing a way only to be pointed with arrows at them. Soon the demons didnāt hesitate and shot their arrows toward the two heroes.
āS**t! Agatha get down!ā
Korsche commanded Agatha as he followed behind, with the demonās blood giving powers to his flail, not only could it grant fire enchantment and extend further than it usually does. The flail could also be used as a defensive mechanism as the metal ball could get light as a feather but still maintain its mass. Korsche went berserk and made slashing movements in front of him blocking off multiple arrows as he could, creating a defensive barrier between the two and the horde.
āI canāt hold them off much longer, we need to deal with those archers! Agatha use the powers of your katana to buy me some time for me to use my crossbow!ā
"Understood.ā
Agatha throws her katana above her as she catches it as soon as it lands on her hand. It makes her sword lighter to carry somehow. As she dashes back and forth to slice every arrow that is headed towards them.
Korsche stops flinging his flail before Agathaās attacks, as he drops the handle of his flail to immediately grab the crossbow and puts it in front of him. He pulls it as hard as he can to break off the binding between him and the crossbow. He didnāt feel any pain that time from the ropeās friction, but it did leave a mark on his body.
āGet down when I tell you tooā¦ Iām about to shootā¦.ā
"Uhm!"
Agatha wipes off the sweat from her neck as she continues to cut off the endless arrows raining at them.
Korsche readied his crossbow, loading it with a bolt arrow and aiming it towards the demon archers who were constantly sending them a raid of arrows. They were finally getting hit from some limbs, but not the vital parts. Korsche tries to ignore the pain. Both Korsche and Agatha were dripping off blood from the arrow shots in some of their limbs, this weakened them slightly.
āGet down now!ā
He orders her so he wouldnāt accidentally shoot her with an arrow as she gave space for him to shoot. Korsche then shot his arrow bolt hitting the very front of the enemy demon archer. The bolt suddenly sends out an electric current, electrifying the demon archers to death like a domino effect. However, this did not end the horde of demons as most of them stepped outside the range of the electric bolt before Korsche even shot it, as if they had anticipated it.
āDamnā¦. Their General must have been informed of usā¦. The demon king sees us as a threat now.ā
"Demonā¦ what??"
The others manage to catch up with the two as she slices their heads off one by one.
Soon a burst of loud and deep laughter that could send chills and fear towards anyone who could hear rang throughout the whole battlefield, this did not affect Korsche. However, it was a little different for Agatha.
The general of the army of demons soon appeared between Korsche and Agatha, as she kicked Agatha on the stomach sending her flying away, the general shouted towards the demons afterward.
āYou incompetent fools! Do I have to do everything here?! Surround that woman! The boy is mine!
"Oof-
That s**t hurts- Damn it."
Agatha groans in pain while laying down on the ground as she looks at the demons who surrounded her.
She stood up while picking up her Katana that was laying on the ground.
"Ohā¦ you should've taken the chance to get this before I could."
āBoy? Excuse me but Iām a manā¦..ā
Korsche said in a manner of annoyance as he grabbed the handle of his flail from the ground immediately before the General could kick it away from his grasp. He went into berserk mode as he flings the flail like a mad lad directing the metal ball toward the General of the demons, but one thing that surprised Korsche was that every time it was about to hit the General, something hits it to make it reverb back away from the General.
āBoy, you canāt even hit me with your puny magical tool! You need more than that to actually kill me, now it's my turn!ā
The General shouted with arrogance in her voice as she made a sudden movement of her flicking her fingers. This suddenly gave Korsche sudden wounds from his arms and legs. He had very little time to react as his legs gave up for a moment and made him kneel to the ground. A sweat drops on Korscheās cheek as he went to check on Agathaās side in which she was being surrounded by demons.
Agatha lights the energy gem that was attached to the katana's handle with a blue flame stone from her pocket on her thighs.
Her Katana soon then grew a glowing blue root around the blade which makes it hotter than a flame.
"Unfortunatelyā¦ I should've used a spell but since I pity you all enough, I'll be using this weak gemstone on you!"
In a blink of an eye. Agatha manages to slice off tens of demons into bits.
The others pull out their shields but it is no use.
"This is so annoyingā¦ I thought there were only seventy of them but turns out there's moreā¦"
āPuny little insect, this is what the demon king fears about? Hah! You lot wonāt even beat the demon king! He shouldnāt have worried a single thing about you puny insects!ā
The General insulted Korsche. As Korsche, who was filled with wounds, slowly tried to stand up holding his flail. This was his chance to strike back since the General was thinking highly of themselves.
āDo you wanna know why the demon king fears the duo like us? Iāll be glad to show you, your petty little wind magic wouldnāt matter in this fight anymore!ā
Korsche tried to get the Generalās full attention to himself by insulting her as much as he could. He flings his flail upward making the metal ball lift in the air. He lets go of the handle as he immediately grabs his crossbow loaded with a bolt arrow and shoots it towards the General, only missing by a few inches.
āWhat was that futile attempt? You even missed your target! Youāre the highly regarded demon hunter, an elite one at that, and you manage to miss your shot? Hah! So much for insulting me!
With the flick of her finger, she cast wind blades to shove the Metal ball that Korsche threw upward and it landed far from Korsche's grasp. She pointed her finger towards Korsche.
āThe nameās Milli, be sure to remember the name of the one who killed you! Any last words, ant?ā
Korsche smirked and looked at the General with a dignified face and shouted.
āI never miss!ā
Agatha who was fighting off a horde of demons that surrounded her was finally free. The demon far behind the General has an arrow shot in his back. It electrocuted most of the demons surrounding Agatha as Agatha finished the remaining demons off.
"Ha! Thank you for giving me a hand!"
The woman mockingly grins at Milli.
"au revoir les chiennesā”"
She slashes the remaining demon in half, but something stops her blade from cutting through her. Soon Agatha realizes that Milli was surrounded by a wind barrier formed by wind blades to stop her katana from going through. Milli mischievously and proudly laughs at the two demon hunters.
āYou ants think that would be enough to stop me?! Iām the demon general Milli! You canāt stop me with such petty tricks!ā
Soon the wind barrier exploded protecting Milli from the inside while greatly pushing off both Agatha and Korsche from their feet.
āAugh! This bitch! I swear Iāll kill you with my own hands!ā
Agatha shouted, groaning from the pain of being thrown off, only for her to stand up slowly after the impact. She luckily held onto her katana to prevent her from losing it from her grasp. Meanwhile, Korsche took his time to recover from the impact, groaning heavily. However, the impact he landed on was near his flail that was shoved away by Milli a few moments ago.
āS**t.. Agatha calm down, we donāt have time to talk backā¦ā
Korsche in a serious tone looked towards the demon general with bloodshot eyes, grabbing his flail on the other hand and letting go of his crossbow. He then began to spin wildly in the area making the flail extend farther and farther creating momentum to strike. Soon flames lit up from the head of the flail creating a fiery effect on the flailās spinning momentum, it grew closer and closer to the demon general awaiting for a heavy impact.
āFool! I just told you that petty tricks like those wonāt work on me!ā
Milli screamed in arrogance as she tried to shove off Korscheās flail with a strong gust of wind, but it was deflected by the flailās strong momentum. This made Milli drop a sweat, as she smiled evilly at her enemies
āNow thatās more like it!ā
She said, jumping backward to gain a bit more distance away from the flail before summoning a strong tornado force behind Korsche slowly sucking him in. This made Korsche halt from his attack and was forced to try and go against the tornado.
āHeh.. Iād like to see you try to get away from that! Puny ant die! DIE! DIEEEE!!ā
Milli screamed, putting yet a stronger force on the tornado making Korsche fight for his survival, as he fought his way from the tornadoās pulling force.
āThisā¦ endsā¦. hereā¦. Bitch!ā
Agatha said, pulling a katana from her side and placing it on the demon generalās neck as she was able to come closer to Milli due to Korscheās distraction. She slit the throat of the demon forcing its way deep inside as it went through the other side, causing blood to spew out from the now headless body. Agathaās clothes were stained with the demonās blood as she threw the head towards Korsche who was still recovering from the fight he had with the tornado.
āKorsche, catch, this will be enough proof that we did it. They better hope to compensate us for not giving us back-up! Or else Iām gonna storm off through the organization!ā
āCalm down, they have the power to kill us both, you know better than anyone that we are just their pawns in this warā¦ this is just the beginning even if we defeat the demon kingā¦ I think there is more to this war than it isā¦ā
Agatha gave a confused look towards Korsche and then shrugged it off as she was filled with pride and arrogance.
āOh, who cares! As long as the demon king is dead then this war will be over! Everyone will be happy after that! Now stop with your wistful thinking, youāre gonna get older if you keep overthinking the situationā
āI suppose youāre rightā¦ā
āDid the great Korsche just agree with me?!ā
Korsche looked at Agatha and then looked away from her as he did not want to listen to any more of her teasing. He began walking back to whence they met. Upon arriving, Korsche hopped onto his motorbike and tied his weapons in the back
āIām sure you know how to go back on your own, my motorbike is already full with my weapons on the back.ā
āCāmon Korsche donāt be like that! Let me hop on! You can tie those weapons somewhere else!ā
āNoā
With that, Korsche suddenly drove off leaving Agatha behind at the scene. This made Agatha a little annoyed but had to deal with it for teasing Korsche too much.
ā----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Korsche arrived back inside the organization after his long trip expelling demons. He immediately rushed towards the headquarters to report the incident to his superior. He knocked on the metal door as it automatically opened; showing right in front of Korsche, a man with a black mask sitting on a chair with his feet above the table, his face was indiscernible but his voice was raspy and deep.
āWhat brings you here, Korsche?ā
The man spoke as if he was talking about business already.
āWe already expelled the demons in the south gate, but if it so happens again that we do NOT receive back-up, especially when we asked for it. Consider yourself losing two elite demon hunters.ā
āNow, now Korsche, no need to make a fuss about it, Iāll make sure that they go unpunished for not providing you any help, I wouldnāt want to lose my favorite demon hunter right? Now go, you deserve some rest, thank you for bringing good news, Iāll expect more from you.ā
The man said, waving a dismissive hand as Korsche bowed down and silently left the room. Korsche suddenly bumps into Agatha who was catching her breath upon just arriving at the organization.
āNo need to make a report, I already did it. He said heāll make sure that the higher-ups who did not provide us help will go unpunished and for godās sake Agatha get some rest first before running around the base.ā
"You ā¦.
I SMELL FILTHY FROM ALL THE WALKING!! NOT EVEN A SINGLE PERSON WENT BACK THERE TO HELP ME!!!"
Agatha annoyingly sniffs cursing everyone in her head.
Then, a woman with great beauty came toward them. She was a higher-up that received her title for having a calm and charming demeanor.
"Korsche! Agatha!!! It's been so long! I'm glad to see the both of you doing well!"

In a very old tale, there are two realms of this world, one of those born with the blood of monsters, inhumane magic, and ridiculous strength, which we call those demons. One of those born with normal blood, people with no natural powers, but can invent the craziest of inventions, we are called humans. For centuries both the realm of the demons and the realm of the humans were at peaceful treaties. They had lived in harmony and neutral status with each other until one day war broke out between those two realms.
"Evacuate everyone in the village! We are under attack by the demons!"
A commander shouts, as his soldiers lead the townsfolk away from the upcoming massacre.
"Troops take formation! We shall defend this village till our very last breath! Hold on to your sacred grounds!"
The commander shouts as the soldiers are rallied together ready to face the horde of demons coming in their way. War soon broke out as the clashing of blades could be heard from miles away, the spilling of blood, and the screams of horror from both races broke out as the two parties were forced to bloodshed.
However, amidst the war, two young lovers, a strong male demon, and a female warrior fled away from the scene visiting a sacred and protected place; it was an ill abandoned sacred ground that the lovers use for safe space.
"Desborne, do you think no one saw us?"
The female warrior said panting but in a worried tone, as she looked left and right toward the entrances to the sacred place.
"You don't need to worry about it Avida, we are safe hereā¦ we have always been"
The strong male demon replied reassuring his lover, as he cupped her cheeks and placed his forehead on hers.
"I hope this war against our races ends soonā¦. Nothing good always comes from warā¦. Only sadness and despair, I wish to be with you, but our races don't want to see us being together."
"Oh, Avidaā¦. I promise you, that we will end this warā¦ and that we will have a fuā"
Desborne's statement was caught off short as a small human army sneaks behind Avida and captures her.
"You're a traitor to your kind!"
The soldier said to Avida, placing a knife onto her neck, making her a hostage.
"LETā¦.. AVIDAā¦.. GO!"
the strong male demon shouted as dark flames started to form in his hand.
"Desborne, no! We promised each other! Please don't do this!"
"Shut up traitor! Traitors like you don't deserve to be living in this world!"
The soldier shouted, punching her in the face before ending her life by striking her chest with a spear.
"NO!"
Desborne's eyes widened seeing his dead lover's body soaking in her blood with a spear pierced into her chest. He felt too many emotions at that time, he lost his sense of reality and was consumed by wrath and revenge.
"I'm sorry my loveā¦.. but I cannot keep your promise any longer!"
His voice became deeper and more demonic, as the flames in his hand became more intense. The soldiers who killed her lover were instilled with fear, frozen in their spot.
"M-men! C-c-capture him! Capture that demon now!"
The assumed leader of the soldiers commanded his group, but none of them listened. They were all frightened of the demon in front of them.
Desborne moved so quickly that he appeared behind the leader of the soldiers in a matter of seconds, slicing his head off as it rolled towards the living soldiers, while the headless body plops to the ground.
"ALL OF YOU ARE NEXT!"
Accompanied with a demonic laugh, Deshborne massacred the enemies he was facing, as the ground was splattered with sweat and blood. The bodies of the now-dead soldiers lie around the place with them swimming in their cold blood.
Desborne, upon doing the deed, goes back to his lover Avida. He removed the spear and placed her on a sacrificial table, on which he kneeled, held the dead woman's hand, and cried for her
"I'm sorry my loveā¦. I couldn't save you this timeā¦. I hope in another world we meet again and have a joyous lifeā¦. This world doesn't need usā¦. We failed to fix itā¦. Someone elseā¦ pleaseā¦ fix this ruined worldā¦ somebodyā¦. Anybodyā¦ā¦"
Desborne said with his voice trailing behind him, as he said those words with remorse and guilt.
"I shall join you, my loveā¦. There is no reason to live in a world where you do not exist anymoreā¦"
Desborne raises the spear he took from Avida's spear and struck himself in the chest as hard as he could. His body was dripping with blood from the spear that he struck himself with. He coughed out blood as he fell near the sacrificial table, still holding on to his lover's cold hand before letting it go on his very last breath.
The war raged on for years, as the story of these two heroic figures was slowly fading into the ideas of the masses. The story changes as time passes, creating utter confusion for the people of both realms; they were under the idea that one harassed the other's freedom and thus created an endless war.
A short young man, who is known to be Korsche then closes the book, as he caresses the hair of a young woman. Korsche didn't know who she was, but he was feeling sadness for the woman as it was clear that she had been abused for too long. The only thing Korsche could do was read her a story to put her to sleep.
Korsche soon received a phone call from a mysterious person.
"Huh. So soon? It seems like the demons are aggressive these days."
Korsche picks up the phone to answer the mysterious caller.
"Get it straight to the point, I know this is a mission"
"Always reliable like a loyal dog huh Korsche? How admirable, now go to the west gate near the out coast of the city, a horde of demons is flooding the defenses, we need you to keep them on hold until backup arrives, we already contacted Agatha about this, she would meet up with you in the said location, Go."
"Right. Right. I'm on my way, and don't ever call me a dog"
Korsche said hanging the phone in annoyance, he placed his phone back in his pocket, and grabbed his chained mace and crossbow laying on the ground, as it was a nuisance to keep carrying when you're telling a story to a young woman, he leaves the door.
