This song is so personal I was a bit nervous about releasing it. So grateful! More to come. 

I have a new song releasing on Friday. It’s different from what I’ve released before. It’s personal and real. There’s a vulnerability to it that’s made it difficult for me to craft a post about it. But the faithfulness and kindness of God has just been too good not to press on…..

We’ve all felt like sometimes we have to hide our pain and problems, especially when we feel pretty broken. We are fearful of what others might think if they saw the extent of our weakness. What’s more, we fight a sense of shame, “why can’t I get it together, what’s wrong with me?”

But we don’t have to hide our face from God. He sees our pain and lavishes love and understanding on us. He even redeems each and every broken piece we put in His hands into something more beautiful than we can imagine.

I think of how He chose to come into the world and I’m struck by both the simplicity and the brilliance of it all. A baby born of a virgin. The King of kings. What a wonder!

In the face of tragedy it’s just as important to know what to say as what not to say. And if you don’t know what to say, just pray for comfort.

I’ve held off this week talking about my newest release from Friday because it seemed inappropriate, as for many in this town, the world is standing still, trying to figure out how to keep breathing in and out, how to put one foot in front of the other.

And yet, there is such an ease, such a comfort that flows out of this song that I wonder if God perhaps planned the release date intentionally, knowing what was to come.

It’s about heaven. It’s not about losing someone and seeing them in heaven again. Rather, it’s simply about our longing to be in the presence of the Lord there.

Ironically enough, this was written out of a very great well of sorrow and loss of my own. So I was astonished at the comforting melodies and lyrics that flowed out of such a well. How is that possible? I’ll never understand how He does it. More on the song story to come.

“In Heaven” lyric video drops tonight at midnight. A big thanks to for always capturing the essence of a song. Hoping and praying it brings comfort at this heartbreaking time.

Praying for Nashville, for the families and loved ones of those lost. Lord, we ask for Your great mercy.

Christmas is coming!!! I wrote a very simple arrangement of O Come, O Come Emmanuel that I’m releasing next FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4!! I wanted the chorus to open up a bit while still preserving the haunting longing of this beautiful hymn. Can’t wait to share it in full!

Writing this song was so much fun! It takes my heart and head to a place of joy and freedom! Praising God is both a personal thing welling up out of our relationship with Him but it’s also a powerful thing when we come together to worship the King of kings. I love how this song speaks to both.
