let me write you—
your name in the sands
on one glorious afternoon
with us hand in hand
with your brown eyes glowing
as the golden hour arrived.
let me love you—
the only way i knew how:
with my inked hands running across your jet black hair
and my heart pounding,
breath laboured,
and the pitter-patter of my feet
as i chased your figure.
let me tell you—
how my heavy, short breaths
were drowned
in the ocean of silence and
how i searched for temporary love
and warmth
in the arms of others to replace yours
and still found no contentment,
how i wished every man
i had met
was you all along,
how i searched for answers for what was wrong
despite knowing you were the one i was missing,
how i daydreamed that you
were the one holding me,
how i imagined that the black orbs staring at mine
would morph into honey brown:
into your eyes twinkling back
like stars.
but it did not happen.
let me whisper to you—
all my escapades when you left,
how i lived
continuing our plans
without you by my side.
let me scream at you from a distance—
how after you walked away
you left nothing behind:
not even the old me.
let me touch you now—
just one more time
so i can remember
how i loved
for i can never love again.

- let me hold you again, but you are no longer mine

A Sunset Scene

Rays of dying light scatter across the field
Painting the world in orange yellow hue
Touching the garden that nature plans to build
Beneath the serenity, life leaves a clue

A gentle breeze caresses the fragile petals
Making the flower dance in golden light
The scene was more beautiful than the Earth's precious metals
A splendid act of nature, it is a beautiful sight

In this moment of time, it is more than just a flower
It is more than just a common product of life
It glitters and dances beneath the golden shower
Free from sadness, loneliness and strife

The day's light becomes the night's glow
Slowly, the flower loses its bright shade
Powerless and hopeless against time's flow
Holding on to the feeling, never wanting it to fade

A single petal falls from too much swaying
It flutters, catching the moonlight in its core
The flower now becomes common, simple and wilting
It still waits to see the day once more

I woke up in the living room of my friend's house. Unlike any typical party, we went for a movie marathon last night. The place was just as comfortable as my home, and to mention that I do have favorite things here tempting enough to make me stay. The cozy sofa along with a retro-designed bookshelf made the top on the list, but I must set the temptations aside; so I got up after some stretch, went to the bathroom to freshen up and waited for my friends to wake up.

"I see you're the first one to get up."

I was about to mark their boring sleeping faces with a pen I found when suddenly a voice came from the hallway, leading to a silhouette figure in the kitchen — Stacy's mom. She was wearing a set of flannel shirts: a top and cover for her all-nighters. I fancy her messy buns, but she was kind of a killjoy.

"You up for breakfast?" she asked.

"Yeah, I've been waiting for some munches, and I want to try your new coffee," I calmly replied. She was like my other mom; the kind of intimacy she gave me made me feel at home.

"Stacy told you?" she asked, and this time she had these condescending look on her face. She went to the cupboard, grabbed two mugs, a jar of homemade coffee powder and a box of fresh milk in the fridge.

"Yeah, and she was so thrilled about letting me try this one."

"Well, she should be. You might as well consider this new mix."

I could see her pouring three shots of black coffee, and it was strange to see it being followed by a shot of milk and a spoon of honey.

"Brewed? Adding the honey is weird," I said. I never got to hear her reply, but a smile was on her face as she delicately mixed another mug of today's caffeinated beverage, ignoring my remark, silently telling me to just wait and taste this new brew.

"Grab yours, it's nice to have it warm."

I nodded. My arm went fast for the coffee that I forgot to say a word of gratitude.

"Thank you, Ancient One, for letting me have this nice cup of coffee," she exclaimed while looking at me with her funny face. A very sarcastic creature indeed.

"Yeah, thanks for the cup, Stacy's mom."

She stared at me, confused.

"What? Need some cough drops?" I added.

We both giggled and I swear, it took moments to witness her recover from the gagging laughter.

"So what'ya think?"

"Well, this is new. I was not sure about the honey earlier, but this taste explains it now. Can I have some of those pancakes?"

The sun was giving a mellow ambience. She gestured a whisper, enough for me to hear what she would say.

"Robin, you have my trust. Just make sure you'll never do anything that can badly hurt Stacy."
