What I ate today as a Personal Trainer on a Summer Cut! (This was classed as my Refeed day and I also currently create my own meal plans so this is snippets of what I included, most refeed days are different for the moment!)

Breakfast: Chocolate gut-health protein oats with frozen raspberries & almond butter
Debloat Glow Drink: Morning supplements! Pop me a message with ‘GLOW’ to grab yours specific to your needs!
Lunch: Sourdough covered in 2 eggs + egg whites omelette with spinach & tomato
Pre-Workout: Energy fizz-stick - a sustainable boost of energy without the crash
Dinner: Beef burger with onions & lettuce in a floured roll with sweet potato fries

6 weeks into a cut/ the start of a body-recomp! Here’s what’s happened so far -

As I’ve moved into this new journey from last years bulk into a ‘summer cut’ but also with the long-term focus of potentially going into competing next year, there’s been a few learning curves and habits I’ve had to build/ adjust!

1. Increasing my step count 🚶‍♀️- It was initially shocking to see on average how low my step count was but I’ve had to be so much more intentional with them. Whether that’s getting up earlier to get out and have a head start or jumping on the treadmill pre/post-workout get more in!
2. Nutrition 🥗🍴 - As someone who rarely counted her macros/calories, this has been super interesting to me to be more on track with. First, I wanted to get an idea what I needed to consume in my diet to hit them easily, then I focused on meal-timings and now I’ve worked out a meal-plan that works for me that I can stick to for now and still gives me variety and satisfaction
3. Adding one habit/focus for improvement each week 🎯- If I tried to be perfect from day 1 and get everything on point it would just have been too overwhelming alongside all other priorities. Instead, focusing on 1 improvement/ implementing a new habit each week has been ideal and setting goals with realistic time-scales to allow progress to happen
4. Allow for and understand there will be fluctuations 📈📉 - As work out best course of action for yourself, new habits and making changes but also being mindful of how things like your menstrual cycle, sleep, meal-timings etc will have an effect on your body too!

This is one of my most dedicated clients and I’m so proud of the progress she has made so far with PT and on my LW&LUP program!🙌🏻💗

She started with me with the aim of losing weight and getting into a structured routine within the gym that she enjoys! We first meet a the fitness classes in Puregym and have since built the most amazing friendship and I’ve loved being part of her fitness journey so far.

We started off with in-person sessions and now she has the confidence and knowledge to complete her sessions independently with myself as her online coach!

At the start of her journey she was above the 100kg mark and now close to the 90kg mark soon! I think she would agree that her journey has not been linear (which is normal!) but no matter the setbacks she always takes on the advice and implements it immediately, completes her tasks consistently and continues to push herself further!

I wanted to share my wonderful client Katie’s progress with me so far! 🤩 She initially started with me after she won my last giveaway competition and since then, has been a part of the team! 🔥

Since the beginning she has been super consistent and built on introducing one habit at time with my guidance! 3 months difference between these photos - in a dress size 16 (left) to size 12 (right).

With regards to measurements -
Lost just over 1 1/2 stone
Waist - Lost 7cm
Hips - Lost 7cm
Chest - Lost 4cm

However, alongside the numeric goals she has also build up her confidence in the gym from doing one session with myself to adding on independent sessions to complete. On top of that implementing daily habits/ mindset changes to build a more long-term sustainable lifestyle!

This testimonial was from one of my wonderful clients who is in their 70’s (I’m sure the client won’t mind me disclosing that ☺️) and their main aim was/is functionality.

They wanted to be able to continue doing long walks and especially be able to walk up hills without sore hips etc, while on their travels. They were also interested in just working on their overall fitness to keep their body strong and healthy.

We always have a good laugh during our session and after telling me all the above in person I had asked them if they would kindly pop it in writing for me to share 🥰

Meal inspo for those looking to get their protein intake in!😋

- Chickpeas: A fab option for those that are plant-based! Super easy to pop in salads, curries or even homemade hummus!
- Adding protein powder into my oats/porridge: In the morning this was a gameeeee-changer for me! I’m someone who really struggled to eat porridge on its own and quite frankly, without some flavour it was just boring to me! This really satisfies my sweet tooth also.
- Red lentil pasta: If you haven’t heard me speak about this by now, you must be new! This has around an extra 10g of protein in it compared to regular pasta and tastes fab. A little extra goes a longggg way!!
- Snacks or dessert option: Coconut yoghurt is always my go to and mixed with some protein powder plus whatever toppings take your fancy, you are onto a winner!

Client transformation!👇🏻💪🏻🔥

Sharing this with permission from my client. She came to me having hit a plateau training by herself and was looking to progress even further! Her initial goal was to lose-weight and build some muscle ‘tone’. Once we digged deeper and talked more about mindset/past relationships around nutrition etc we refined her goals further and decided to focus on a hypertrophy phase (building a muscular foundation) to begin with and also work on nutritional guidance. Over the past JUST 8 weeks of hard-work and consistency you can see the thigh and glute definition coming through (her upper body has also transformed which I won’t share for clients privacy), she’s feeling so much stronger and making huge progress in the gym. For her height and current build/stats we talked about taking some focus off the losing weight aspect however, as a by-product she’s lost a little bit of weight, but also gained muscle mass giving that toned look! I cannot wait to see her progress further on her journey!! 🥰

My top tips when planning your workout splits 👇🏻

A ‘Workout Split’ is essentially how you decide to break-up your workouts during the week. These will depend on your goal but it could be, as an example, split by muscle groups you want to train for muscle growth (hypertrophy) or potentially how much impact/stress you put on the body through sports!

1. Give yourself enough rest between muscle groups trained: If you are training your full upper-body less than 24-48hrs between each-other, your muscles won’t have enough time to fully recover to get the most out of your workouts
2. Set high/low-impact or intensity days: Again, this will help reduce the stress put on the body which will prevent over-training/burn-out
4. Start with fewer days: If you are a beginner, it is best to build up a habit of consistently doing your workouts (say full-body, upper and lower) then adding on more days when it becomes more of a lifestyle for you (e.g. breaking it into glutes & hammies, back & biceps and so on)
6. Make sure you are training your full-body throughout your week: This avoids any muscular imbalances and potential injuries over time! You want to build a strong foundation!💯💪🏻

My Staple Exercises for a Toned AF sexy back 😎

1. Barbell Bent Over-Row
2. Lat-Pull Down
3. Seated Row

3-4 sets of 8-10 reps (by the time you reach your last 1-2 reps you should feel the weight is more of a struggle to move than the previous reps)

HIGHLAND DANCE TRAINING!!

I am a personal trainer and competitive highland dancer who wants to be able to help other highland dancers looking to improve their fitness and training alongside their dance classes. I was in the position where I never thought I would still be dancing competitively at the age of 24 (funny how thats classed as ‘old’ in the dancing world!😂) as I spent many years and periods of time working back from aches and pains which meant I wasn’t sure if I would ever continue dancing competitively.

Now equipped with the knowledge, education and experience of how to improve (and continue to do so) my own dancing through dancer specific training methods & techniques, I know I would be able to help other dancers pro-long their careers and TRAIN more like the athletes we are!

I am planning to organise an evening training class on mondays from 4-5pm for local dancers. If you would be interested and want to get involved please send me a DM. If there is enough interest from those who aren’t local, I will potentially set-up zoom training classes each week also!

MY TRANSFORMATION!

I realised I’ve never actually shared with you all my transformation and and my story as to how I not only got into the best, yet most sustainable shape of my life…but also feel the best I’ve ever felt too!

The picture on the left (my ‘before’) was take back around 2019 during my university years. I was not comfortable in my body and even used to stand in-front of the mirror at a time when I was still doing loads of exercise and ask myself ‘why don’t I have abs yet?’. I felt tired and drained all the time, even though I would have classed myself a pretty ‘healthy’. However, I had SOO much to learn!

Fast forward to the picture on the right which was taken earlier this week and I am honestly so proud of how far I’ve come in my own journey! Becoming a PT, I’ve learned how to train alot better and specifically for my goals but the main changes for me were also in my nutrition and building healthier habits! I learned all about gut-health and how it has such a massive impact on so many processes within your body and what leading a sustainable healthy lifestyle actually looks like!

I plan to go live on this page soon to take you through my transformation and the gut-health program I now run alongside a nutritionist and many other health professionals to help your see results like myself and lead a healthier lifestyle!
