Salmon Brook Rabbit Rescue
A permanent home for neglected or unwanted rabbits. They live in large duplex ventilated heated hutches with lofts.
All rabbits have human contact at least twice a day, receive green veggies, carrot and apple pieces, fresh hay and pellet food daily.
Leo is doing well. All the hutches have clear plastic and electric heat for the winter.
Baxter likes his dandelion leaves.
Talbert waits patiently for his treats.
Gracie is doing well. She’s been here about a year.
 Baxter always likes his salads.
Henry doesn’t like to wait long for his salad
Dillon enjoys some parsley with his morning salad.
LIttle Leo is much better now. This morning he is eating his greens and thin sliced carrot pieces.
Little Leo had stopped eating about a week ago.
We began subcutaneous fluids every-other-day and had been syringe feeding a mixture of water, pancake syrup and liquid simethicone twice a day.
(In the photo he is wrapped in a blanket for his feeding.)
Fortunately, last night, he started eating and had kale, two apple slices, and a small piece of carrot.
It looks like he is going to be alright.
Beatrix has only been here a short time, but she seems to like her new home and is very friendly.
Henry arrived a few weeks ago. He is energetic and likes to visit with the humans.
It’s getting dark earlier but we have new LED lights for evening rabbit care
We decided on the name Gracie for this new member of our group. She is living beside Maude and Melody, and is getting accustomed to her new home and rabbit companions.
This little bunny came to us a couple weeks ago, a referral from the Windsor animal control. We need to choose a name for her. Suggestions welcome
Maude and Melody like the clover that grows nearby.
If you're thinking of getting a rabbit this Springtime, remember that a rabbit can live as long as a dog. Be prepared for a ten or more-year commitment.
This is an old picture of Mr. Pumpkin who lived with us here for twelve years.
Apple peels are a favorite treat.
Gertrude likes a big salad for lunch.
Dillon has no trouble keeping warm in this weather
All the heated water bottles and heater boxes are up and ready for winter. Here is Gertrude finishing her dandelion greens.
Talbert is ready for the cold weather with his heater and heated water bottle.
This ball of fur is Dudley.
Lunchtime for Baxter.
Newman went to the vet last week and was diagnosed with a large abdominal mass. We brought him back with medication to keep him comfortable. Yesterday morning he passed away.
Around eight years ago, he was found wandering in a field in Ellington. He came to us through the Town of Ellington Animal Control Dept. We were glad to be able to give him a good home. We will miss our old friend.
Leo, just about to jump to the upper level.
Maude and Melody share the center section of our newest accommodations, the triple hutch.
Just another lazy day for Newman. He's one of our older rabbits.
Gertrude peeking out from her loft.
Here is Dudley enjoying the afternoon breeze (behind him, the steps up to the loft).
