Do I need to send my child to school? - Raising My Wild One Do I need to send my child to school?
Hi, my name is Bizzy. As a child, I was lucky to grow up with my Mum at home full time looking after me. I have such fond memories of that period in my life. When my daughter Lyra was born in 2019, I felt passionate about wanting to replicate the same experience with her.
Whilst I was pregnant read a lot of parenting books and was drawn in particular to the method of gentle parenting and teaching using the Montessori method. These were completely new concepts that I had never heard before and utterly different from any parenting models I had seen.
This discovery ignited a desire to continue learning and eventually led me down the road of home education.
I love the idea that by educating our daughter outside of a school environment, we will allow her to follow her passions, free from the restrictions of having to fit into a ‘one size fits all’ approach to learning.
When I am not in ‘Mum mode’ you will find me either at the local veterinary hospital where I work as a Veterinary Nurse, rummaging around my local charity shop or watching scary movies.
Whilst Lyra has not quite reached compulsory school age yet, we have already met a welcoming, supportive home education community, and I am very excited for our adventures ahead!
