I don’t think it’s more clear than this photo. Baby, A on the left had their court cut immediately to allow for the birth of baby B This is why we advocate for delayed cord clamping.

ok lets talk about it...... the dreaded first postpartum p**p! You may not have had a bowel movement in a while. Maybe you had a long labour or you haven't eaten much in the last few days and there isn't much to come out, or maybe you had a c-section and the pain meds are causing constipation. Or maybe you're just afraid after a tear or episiotomy repair with stitches. Regardless the fear and unknown have you dreading that first trip to the washroom. Some things that may help the first trip are, stool softeners to help you avoid straining. You do not want to push or bear down as it will cause pain and pressure on your incision sites. It is also recommended to use light exercise and gentle abdominal massage to get things moving. Another important factor is hydration. Water is key but you can also try coconut water, bone broths, and electrolyte drinks as well. Remember to eat fibre-rich foods like fruits and vegetables. Using your peri bottle with warm water may also help soothe the area during your first movement. If you have hemorrhoids (swollen blood vessels in the re**al area) they may be itchy and painful, try using chilled or frozen witch hazel pads with drops of vitamin E oil, use a donut pillow, try sitz baths, and use tucks medicated pads. If you have not had a bowel movement by 1 week postpartum its probably time to call the doctor.
