Nas and his pops, Olu Dara. A lot of people don't know his pops played the cornet on the outro of his song "Life's a B*tch" ft. AZ. Nas' original plan was to sample "Juicy Fruit" but L.E.S. forgot the record at home on accident, so they ended up sampling “Yearning for Your Love” by The Gap Band instead. Even though I'm curious what we could have heard, I'm personally ok with the outcome, I think each record found it's right place. Plus, Nas and his father got to share a moment that lives on forever in Hip-Hop history. 🙌🔥

Cam'ron is a well known Hip-Hop artist, he was born and grew up in New York, where went to school at the Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics, and met Mase and Jim Jones. After dropping out of college he was eventually introduced by Mase to The Notorious B.I.G., who then introduced him to Lance Rivera, signing him to his label Untertainment, a subsidiary of Epic Records. His musical journey started with the Hip-Hop group Children of the Corn in 1993, alongside Big L and Mase, however in March 1997 the group disbanded.

In 1998, he released his debut album, "Confessions of Fire", under Untertainment. The album achieved gold certification and featured hit singles like "3-5-7" and "Horse and Carriage". His second album, "S.D.E. (Sports Drugs & Entertainment)", dropped in 2000, followed by his signing to Roc-A-Fella Records in 2001.

His third studio album, "Come Home with Me", released in 2002, and marked a significant milestone in his career. Featuring collaborations with Jay-Z, Beanie Sigel, and Memphis Bleek, the album included hit singles like "Oh Boy" and "Hey Ma", reaching platinum status and serving as a launching pad for his group, the Diplomats.

Cam'ron's involvement in the film industry included roles in Roc-A-Fella films like "Paper Soldiers" and "Paid in Full" in 2002.

In 2004, his fourth album, "Purple Haze", continued his success, earning gold certification. However, disagreements with Jay-Z led to a departure from Roc-A-Fella Records in 2005. Cam'ron then signed with Asylum Records and released "Killa Season" in 2006, accompanied by a film of the same name, marking his director-screenwriter debut.

Taking a hiatus in 2007 due to his mother's health, he returned to the music scene in 2009 with his sixth album, "Crime Pays", reaching number 3 on the Billboard 200. A decade later, in 2019, he released his seventh album, "Purple Haze 2".

In 2023, he expanded his horizons by launching a sports news talk show, "It is What It Is", alongside rapper Mase. The show has since gained viral success on YouTube, reflecting Cam'ron's diverse career ventures.

Cam'ron's legacy extends beyond music, encompassing fashion with ventures like the "Cape line" introduced in collaboration with designer Mark McNairy. His fashion clothing line, "Dipset USA," pays homage to his former label Diplomat Records.

Happy birthday to my personal superhero ! If I ever needed someone to look up to for an example of how to be a man, I never had to look further than my father. He’s always taken care of his responsibilities, whether it be me, his family, or his duties as a deputy mayor & union leader. Can’t nobody talk bad about my pops, I’ll defend his name and his legacy to the end of the earth. He’s done more for this city than 98 percent of the people that sit on Facebook constantly complaining. He’s solution driven and oriented, he’s put his body on the line on more occasions than I can count fighting for what he believes in, and if it wasn’t for my dad I wouldn’t have this political & activism oriented mind. All of those qualities I get from my pops, just following his lead.

Today is one of my favorite days, it’s the day the love of my life was born. My heart has reached a pinnacle age today. I remember my mother use to always tell me she was 26 every time I asked her age because people would always ask me how old she was since she looks so young. It wasn’t until years later that I realized my mother has been “26” for a good 10 years 🤣😂

My umi is the backbone of my family, she’s the centerpiece to all of my friends, family members, associates, and anyone else that ever met her and needed her. I’ve watched this woman sacrifice time and time again to make sure her loved ones are straight, her heart is beyond big, it’s where I get mine from. She’s given chance after chance to people who didn’t even deserve it, just out of live and wanting to see them be great. She’s taken some of the biggest losses I’ve ever seen a woman take and through it all has remained gracious, resilient, loving & charitable. I love it for her.

My mother is a boss. Since she had me so young, it’s felt like we grew up together. I watched her go from living with her mother to sleeping on couches to her first apartment to her first house. From walking to public transportation to multiple vehicles. From no job to a good job to multiple careers. I’ve witnessed her growth, I’ve watched her transformation, and I can honestly say it’s been nothing less than inspirational.

Whenever I needed her, she was there. Whenever I was unsure, she reassured me. Whenever I didn’t know, she taught me. Whenever I didn’t believe, she gave me faith. Whenever I felt hopeless, she gave me hope. When I wanted to die, she gave me a reason to live. I couldn’t do anything on this planet without my mother. I’m a mothers boy through and through and idc. I’ll die about it. I’ll kill about it.

Happy half a cent to the woman that brought me on this planet. To the woman that sets the standard for any woman I deal with. To the woman that is the end all be all in my eyes.
