This past week in the PA legislature and among the Democratic state committee there has been a lot of talk about school vouchers. It doesn't matter if they're called vouchers, tax credits or whatever - we need to be clear on what it happening. ANY program that takes state tax dollars away from our public schools and redirects them to private institutions is robbing the majority of our kids of opportunity. PA has 'illegally' funded our schools for too long and this practice cannot and should not continue.

A busy week of holiday parties and events culminated last night at the PA Democratic Party dinner. It was a wonderful evening hanging out with friends and getting to meet Senator Casey. It's been 43 years since we lost the great John Lennon. Just 'imagine' what the world could be if we 'give peace a chance.' That starts by giving 'power (back) to the people.' So, get ready to stop 'watching the wheels' and get involved. It's time for a 'working class hero' to represent Northern York.

I've discussed this before, but the development of our rural communities continues to be a huge issue. From the environmental (air quality, water runoff, etc), agriculture impact to the additional strain on our emergency services mentioned in the story. Our lands, public or private shouldn't be up for sale to the highest bidder. Companies should be looking to partner with the residents they want to call neighbors. I will work to make sure we preserve the integrity of the places we call home.

This is a wonderful call for change. I support opening our primaries. Over 1 million voters across the state, including many members of our military are registered independents. They should absolutely be able to use their voice in ALL elections.

It's my own personal tradition on this day to revisit Bruce Springsteen's 'The Rising' album in it's entirety. Last night I was proud to be there as my friend Sara Agerton for PA launched her campaign for state rep. Sara is the embodiment of a public servant and will be amazing for her neighbors in Cumberland County.

Tonight I sat in on the Newberry Township zoning meeting. At issue was a new 132 unit apartment complex that includes nearly 400 parking spaces. Neighbors are obviously concerned about a variety of issues. Overall, our rural communities have to continue to work on balancing community needs versus future growth.

What a great day! Thanks to the Northern York County Democratic Club for hosting their symposium today. Honored to meet Gillian and Angela from the Sisters of the Night Caucus.

Good morning! I wanted to share with you all the email I sent this morning to the Newberry Township, York County Pennsylvania supervisors regarding the potential sale of our sewer system. The sale of these public assets has been a disturbing trend around Pennsylvania and has already hurt our neighbors in Fairview. I will be attending the NEWBERRY TOWNSHIP SEWER MEETING SALE !!! at Red Mill tomorrow night and hoping that the supervisors do right by their neighbors.

It's official! I'm announcing my candidacy for Pennsylvania State House District 88. If you want to get in on the ground floor of our grassroots movement, join us August 3rd as we share our visions of a state government that works for everyone.

Actions speak louder than words and it's important we hold our representatives accountable for their actions! Yesterday, the representative from northern York County was one of SIX legislators to vote AGAINST property tax relief for seniors.

That's right. A massively bi-partisan bill was passed in the House and she said No! This is just the latest example of how she's more concerned with waging culture wars instead of working for her constituents.

AMAZING turnout last night in response to the proposed sewer sale. It became pretty clear as the meeting went on that the township supervisors have NOT done their due diligence or served the public interest. Can confirm the only people that supported the sale were sitting in the front of the room. There is a meeting tonight at 6pm. Let's hope they serve the public interest and end this nonsense.

TONIGHT - Newberry Township Supervisors meeting at 6pm. I will be there in opposition to the sale of our public sewer system. It's incomprehensible why we would sell a money making entity. Especially, when doing so could raise resident bills as much as 3x more than they are now. If you are a resident, please join me.
