Manny Elias Drums

Manny Elias (Born 1953) was born in Calcutta, India and moved to England in 1965. He appears in 6 of the bands promotional videos from that era.

ite Band "White Album", Isley Brothers "3+3" and Traffic "John Barlkeycorn Must Die". A friend of Manny's father from India "Daddy Mazda" gave him the money for his first drum kit much to his father's consternation! Following a move to Bath and playing with anyone who needed a drummer Manny was signed to Richard Branson's Virgin Label in 1978 with Interview recording Big Oceans and Snakes & Lovers. After Interview were released from Virgin and Graduate were released from Realto Records, Curt Smith met Manny doing a showcase for Neon (who went on to become Naked Eyes.) Roland and Curt wanted to form another band and asked Manny to do some demos with them, he is best known for being the original drummer from Tears For Fears recording albums The Hurting and Songs From The Big Chair. In addition to this he has co-writing credits on "The Way You Are" and "The Working Hour". Together Tears For Fears conquered America and toured worldwide extensively. After parting ways with Tears For Fears in 1986, Manny has worked with many varied artists from all over the world including: Peter Gabriel (a few tracks on earlier albums including Birdy and most notably The Feeling Begins - from the album Passion), Julian Lennon (Photograph Smile), Dolly Parton (Straight Talk), Joni Mitchell, Peter Hamill (The Noise, X My Heart, There Goes The Daylight, Roaring Forties, The Union Chapel Concert, Everyone You Hold), Hugh Cornwell, Tony Mortimer, Catherine Lara, Nazareth, Akira Inoue, David Rhodes, Nigel Planner, Yasuaki Shimizu, East 17, Naked Eyes, Jean Guidoni, Chris Field, Yazz, Mike Oldfield, Fuzzbox, Gregory Darling, Franz Benton, How We Live, The Korgis, The Purple Helmets, Dana, Celine Dion, Xymox, Polyphonic Size, Phil Broikos, The Believers, The Painted Word, Caroline Bonnett, The RUA, Adams Traktor

You Found A Way (Out next Friday the 18th) is a big departure from our darker lyrics and is a much more upbeat love song. It has elements of rock, pop and even some 80’s era synth. The foundation of the song is loosely interpreted from my own experience. When someone, whether it be intentionally or accidentally, stumbles into your life that isn’t a little (or allot) dark around the edges, is consistently optimistic and upbeat, tells it like it is, knows themselves, accepts you as you are and shares your views and aspirations alongside their own, you should pay a whole lot of attention! It may not last forever. You Found A Way tells that story. It’s a positive, upbeat love song. Well... until it isn’t! You’ll have to watch the music video to get the full meaning.
