This commemorative and historic book has been created to celebrate 100 years of Derryclavin Pipe Band.

A Limited Edition Collection, this book displays over 275 photos and recorded accounts from the early years right through to the present day.

The book will be released for sale at our concert in the Ardhowen Theatre this Friday night at a cost of £20

New Leading Drummer Wanted!

St Mary’s Pipe Band Derrytrasna would like to thank our outgoing Lead Drummer Melvin Bowman for all his hard work and dedication to our band since he took over the Drum Corps in 2017.

Melvin lead us to unprecedented success in drumming, with multiple titles including, Ulster🏆, All Ireland🏆, UK🏆, British🏆 and Champion of Champions’🏆 titles across Grades 4A, 3B & 3A!

Following our return season back in Grade 2, Melvin has decided to step down as Leading Drummer and we all wish him every success in the future. 🥁🏆🙌🏼

We currently have the vacancy of Leading Drummer available for an experienced Player with a proven record in Grade 2 or above. There is a Drum Corps of 6 quality, experienced snare drummers, plus Bass & Tenors, ready and willing to take up the new challenge and bring the band to the next level!🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁

The band are delighted to announce the appointment of Donald Mackay as their new Pipe Major with immediate effect.

Donald accepted the position last night and brings with him a wealth of leadership skills and experience at the top of the grade. The band looks forward to new and exciting times ahead and the 2023 competing season.

Donald would like to thank Keith Bowes Jnr for all his hard work, effort and commitment getting the band to its current position and is excited to work with him in his role as Pipe Sergeant.

His Majesty The King has appointed Pipe Major Paul Burns as Piper to the Sovereign. The position dates back to the nineteenth century when Queen Victoria, on a visit to the Marquess of Breadalbane at Taymouth Castle, was endeared by the Marquess’ personal piper and was taken with the idea to appoint her own.

Paul Burns PM was appointed by Queen Elizabeth II in 2021 as Piper to the Sovereign and played the lament at Her late Majesty’s funeral. The Piper’s principal duty is to awake the Sovereign at 9am to the bagpipes, but they are also a member of the Royal Household and accompany His Majesty on engagements introducing Him to dignitaries and members of the public.
