Motorsport.ie Mustang Series Round 1 complete!

A thrilling round 1 of our new Motorsport.ie Mustang Series at Willow Springs last night saw plenty of close but fair racing!

It was Irish sim racing sensation Oscar Mangan who came away with the most points followed closely by RTA veteran Shaun McGoldrick.

RTA Newcomer Grace McCallion leads the B series standings after round 1 followed closely by Stuart Brierton in second.

7 rounds still to go, this championship is shaping up to be a great one!

Round 2 of the Endurance series 2024 over and out!

It was an exciting race to say the least, teams had to battle with terrible rain, then drying tracks and then terrible rain once again into the dark.

From the outset it seemed like it would be the Hyprix team of Rory O' Shea and Santiago Ramirez who were destined for the win but after a botched pit stop Evan Walsh and Jamal Ghandour took the lead and would hold it right till the end taking an impressive win around a very tricky Le Mans circuit, followed closely in second by Team Sim Consultants, Enda Farrell and Ronan Hederman.

We're back to usual service next week with Round 1 of the Motorsport.ie Mustang Cup around Willow Springs Raceway. You can catch this race live here on facebook or on the Gantry TV youtube channel.

Round 2 of the RTA Virtual Motorsport endurance series kicks off tomorrow at 9pm with a 90 minute endurance spectacular around Le Mans. This race will begin in daylight but quickly fade into darkness which is going to make things even more thrilling.

This week we caught up with multiple RTA championship winner Rory O Shea, Rory also happens to be one of the top sim racers on the iRacing platform! We were keen to hear what Rory had to say about RTA and sim racing in general:

"I got into sim racing in 2019 after getting my first PC and I've never looked back. By driving on a sim daily, I was able to learn the fundamentals of racing which helped me hugely in the real world. I was offered the chance to drive a Junior X30 kart based on the skills I had shown in the sim. I've been racing karts ever since, which would
have never happened without sim racing. Since then I've kept on sim racing for the fun of it and to improve my skills in the real world.

I joined RTA in 2022 and was immediately blown away by the balance that the organisers had struck between having a serious championship and having a fun championship. That atmosphere has made me come back every Tuesday to race against the best drivers in the country.”

Kelly makes it 5!!

Donegal man Jordan Kelly stormed to victory last night claiming his 5th RTA Virtual Motorsport title and so setting himself up as one of the most Successful Irish sim racers in the world!

Last night's racing left nothing to be desired, full of incredible battles, edge of seat incidents and everything in between, Round 8 of the Formula Lights series was a fitting end to what has been a fantastic season. It was Ronan Doherty Racing who would take second in the championship followed in third by the ever fast Rory O' Shea.

What a season its been, our thanks to Gantry TV for their brilliant coverage all season, to the admin team who ensure the races and championships run without a hiccup but most of all, thank you to the drivers!

Round 8 of the Formula Lights series kicks off tonight and it could quiet literally be anyone of the top 5 drivers who deny Jordan Kelly the chance of setting a new RTA record for championship wins, will Kelly do what it takes or will we see a different championship winner, you can find out live from 9pm on Gantry TV

Over the last few weeks we've been hearing from RTA champions past and present about what made them get into sim racing and what they love about it... Here's what RTA Formula Vee champion Brian McManus had to say.

"I've had an interest in sim racing from a young age, I grew up with it.
My passion for it became serious around 2015 when I joined my first league.

I decided to teach myself how to drive properly and practice race craft, spending countless hours running laps over and over. For me, it was always about hard work over talent.

In 2018, I joined a group of Irish sim racers and formed lifelong friendships. We competed against some of the best in the world, a tradition that continues today in RTA.

In 2021, I joined RTA, which has been the number one series to compete in ever since.
The series is professionally run and operated at a high level, but it's also a lot of fun.
It's the highlight of my week."

Brian is a front runner in the current Formula Lights series and is set to be one of the quickest in our upcoming Motorsport.ie Mustang Series.

RTA Mustang Americas Cup! ‼️

RTA are delighted to announce our upcoming series, the RTA Mustang Americas Cup. This 8 Round series will take place on some of the USA's best tracks with a trip to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for round 3. The trusty steed drivers will use to compete for this series is the brand new to iRacing Ford Mustang GT3!

We are excited for this upcoming series as we hit 5 years of running sim racing events in Ireland! Statistically a few years back we became the largest sim racing league in Ireland and one of the Largest in Europe! Running back to back championships with 40+ entries a season for over 5 years now has been no easy task, but thanks to the dedicated grid we have behind us its felt incredibly fun along the way! Stay tuned for some exciting announcements before the start of next season.
