With an estimated 6,000 participants who joined the Caravan and Opening Salvo of Team Arangka, all we can say is, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR UNENDING SUPPORT. Our slate headed by our dear mayor Hon. Alme Rhummyla G. Nicor Mangilimutan was deeply overwhelmed by the wave of people who gathered to support the kick off of their campaign. The caravan started from our mayor's residence and convened at the Municipal Public Plaza for the opening salvo program. Esteemed guests such as the ever supportive Congresswoman Ma. Lourdes Arroyo, Board Member Doc Rita Gatuslao, and Board Member Aspirant Boyet Espinosa also graced the event.

A CAREER SHIFT IN THE MAKING

If we stick on technical definition, Kent Yrral Magnabe is considered a newbie in the arena of politics. Coming from an entrepreneurial and artistic background, it came as a surprise to everyone that he is now entering the field of governance. But don’t be deceived, even though that his family is in business, owning the local hardware “Magboys” they are not new to public service.
As a family tradition, every month of December the Magnabe family would choose a beneficiary – not just in La Castellana but to other parts of Negros as well. They would conduct outreach program with the goal of bettering lives in their own little way.
When asked, if what made him consider shifting to public service. Mr. Kent will tell you that it was during the onset of the pandemic. Since he was invited by Mayor Mhai to help with the Covid relief operations of the municipality. He discovered that he has a soft spot in helping people, it ignited the flame of willingness to be a public servant.
Some may question his capability, but what we cannot take away from him is the fact that he has already contributed a lot to help develop La Castellana. Mr. Kent Magnabe together with his family donated the Papa Jesus and Mama Mary statue located in the Leaf Garden Panorama Park. During the aftermath of the typhoon, he donated solar lights and construction materials to the highly affected communities.
In this world where change is the only constant thing, the people should welcome a new breed of leadership that can have a progressive contribution for our town. This is Kent Yrral “Magboys” Magnabe, and this is his story.

CARLO FERIA OCAMPO
A True Son of La Castellana

Many may be called to lead but it takes a special person to be truly considered the people’s leader. Beyond the labels and recognitions, this chosen one leads with no other agenda but to work for the greater good of the community he serves.

Carlo Feria Ocampo is that kind of leader. And it’s easy to understand why he has always had that passion to serve, especially the most disadvantaged and the poorest of the poor.

Carlo is the grandson of the late Honorable Felix “Pingot” M. Feria, Jr. who was elected Congressman of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental in 1965.

“My grandfather certainly instilled in me his love for the people since I was a young boy. He would fondly say, ‘You’d follow in my footsteps one day’. Even then, I believed him. I aspired to be him, a leader who was not only respected but loved by his constituents,” shares Carlo, as he steps up to fulfill his destiny by running for Sangguniang Bayan Member under the Lakas CMD’s Team Arangka.

Carlo’s platform of government is focused on what he believes can uplift La Castellana’s communities: agriculture.

With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Business at the University of St. La Salle, Carlo’s goal is to push for a farming system that is more sustainable — environmentally, economically, and socially.

Carlo stresses, “La Castellana’s farms deserve to have state-of-the-art, science-based practices that result in maximum productivity, reaping profits that would directly benefit the farmers and their families and allow them to expand opportunities for themselves and for the municipality.”

In this time of pandemic, Carlo believes it is of utmost importance, a matter of survival, for communities to be able to produce their own food, effectively and consistently.

Besides sustainable agriculture, Carlo also wants to zero in on disaster preparedness. In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Odette, Carlo bravely sought out devastated areas, handing out food, water, building materials, and solar lights. He coordinated with donors, locally and internationally, to make sure relief aid was distributed to those who need it most.

It’s easy to understand why Carlo has the passion to serve. Not only is it a promise to his grandfather that he intends to keep, but it’s also a lifelong pledge to his town and its people, his steadfast commitment as a true son of La Castellana.

A man from a very humble beginning. Our town witnessed the rise of a leader considered to be a father to everyone of us. Former Mayor Alberto Nicor Jr, or simply known as Tatay Bordig to his subjects. Mayor Bordig is a name that cannot be forgotten by the people, even if he already left his government office people still knock on his door to ask for help. And as usual as the Nicor brand of leadership, Mayor Bordig will never say no and he is always quick to give help to anyone. One of his flagship programs as the mayor of La Castellana is to help families have one professional so they will be able to help alleviate their family in terms of economic status. CARES program is the brain child of Mayor Bordig and his councilors, and we cannot deny the impact it brought to our town. We have produced batches of professionals that are now in service in both public and private sector. Another notable program of the administration of Mayor Bordig is the burial assistance to the public. Mayor Bordig already experienced a lot in his life, we firmly believe that this is his edge over other politicians. His experience in governance and the never-ending empathy for the people is a cutting-edge combination to secure a leader that will never turn his back whenever the people need him. We can never question his capability because his service has been tested and proven. A man with dignity and compassion, a man who will say yes to everything, a man who will risk his name for his employees, and a man who honed his whole family to serve the people of La Castellana.

TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT
Our first lady mayor, Hon. Alme Rhummyla G. Nicor Mangilimutan or simply known to her constituents as Mayor Mhai-Mhai. On her two terms as mayor, she has pioneered and continued countless projects that put La Castellana on the map. We cannot deny that the pandemic brought about a lot of hurdles especially in the economic development of our municipality, but with the leadership of our dear mayor and with the help of government officials the tourism potential of La Castellana was highlighted. Cafes and restaurants sprouted all over the 13 barangays signifying economic growth that is actually a big help for our citizens. Small businesses starting to grow in number signifies a promising industry in our town. With the undying support and effort of our mayor, Bailes de Luces performed internationally, a very proud moment for us La Castelleńos. There is also a continuance of programs, for example the CARES Scholarship program pioneered by our former mayor Alberto “Bordig” Nicor who is also our dear mayor’s father. We have witnessed the growth of the program, from honing undergraduates to actually expanding to Masters and Doctorate Scholarship. This post couldn’t account all her achievements and beyond all the success in governance we have to remember that Mayor Mhai is also a daughter, a sister, and a proud mother to her children. She leads with intelligence and compassion, no excuses, and that behavior sets her apart from the rest. Mayor Mhai carries the stamp of Serbisyong Nicor along with the rest of her family in public service.

Team Arangka took part in the signing of the Peace Covenant Signing for the 2022 Midterm Elections. The said event kicked off with a mass, and the program is spearheaded by the Church, COMELEC, and the Local Police.
