Western Nebraska Engine Academy

Western Nebraska Engine Academy

WNEA is a training that provides firefighters an opportunity to further develop their skills.

19/09/2023

Western Nebraska Engine Academy came to a close on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Firefighters from five states and 21 fire departments demobilized and returned to their respective departments after finishing up training on Sunday in the Buffalo Creek Wildlife Management Area. The Academy enabled 42 trainees in the field to gain experience from qualified evaluators.

The IMT managing the exercise wishes to formally thank everyone who supported the academy this year. This exercise could not be possible without the relationships that have been formed at the local, state, and federal levels. Assistance from local agencies, the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, the US Forest Service, and the Nebraska National Air Guard led to an exceptional training opportunity for firefighters across our area. We also wish to thank the landowners for their willingness to assist and the Gering VFD for hosting this incredible training opportunity.

We appreciate the time and energy everyone put into making this a successful and fruitful event. The training that is provided during this event continues to prepare and refine abilities in and out of the field.

Most of all, thank you to our participants! Thank you for giving your time to develop and grow as a response for your local community, and personally.

We look forward to seeing you next year!
