At 60 years of age I was pretty sure my life was ending. I had tremendous joint pain, at times needing two canes to get around. At the same time I was suffering from anemia so severe I was getting iron transfusions every three weeks in an attempt to help me create red blood cells. The VA explored me from both ends trying to find the reason! Tĥe dòctòrs inreased my statin dose because my cholesterol was a little high. My pain level pain went through the roof. I stopped taking stains and within weeks my joint pain subsided to just plain old arthritis. I was in heaven! My pain level was wonderful!
I was still suffering severe anemia, still getting transfusions every three weeks, it really helped me feel normal. I asked the doctors once if my acid reflux medication could cause anemia and was told there was little chance. I had been instructed to take it daily, so I asked the doctor if I could take it "as needed" and was told I could. My enemia went away within weeks! I told the doctors that my enemia was caused by the medication and have been assured that wasn't likely. Ì suppose my recovery from anemia must have been a miracle!
Thirteen years later I feel much better than I did at 60. After the pain I had been through my arthritis ìs a minor inconvenience.
The point to this little tale is that just like there are good mechanics and bad mechanics, there are good doctors AND bad doctors. Sometimes you have to trust your Intuition and go against your doctors advice.
Thank you for all of the birthday wishes today, I have lived 73 years now and consider it a privilege and definitely not a burden! I hope for many more years of people wondering what the old coot will do next..
Never forget that while you can't avoid getting old; you can remain immature FOREVER!
