I'm not a coffee shop writer, but sometimes I have an odd hour or two between appointments. So today I brought along my laptop and am diving into the red herrings. Look at me plotting! *so proud*

This is one of my all-time favorite books. Huge influence on my writing and how I think about Science Fiction as a genre.

I've always found it interesting that Christmas is ghost story time ('and scary ghosts stories and all the glories of Christmases long, long ago...'). As I take a break from my NaNo project, I was thinking of starting second draft edits of Warrior of the Dusk, which has a definite creepy, ghostly vibe.

Looking toward next year's reading and found this list on the Sci-Fi and Fantasty Book Club on Good reads will - as it is aptly named - all the books. I've read a handful of their picks (and added a few of my own) but a great starting place if you need a SSF boost!

Did my new book release today? Yes.
Am I super excited? Also, yes.
Am I going to curl up and read all my favorite parts over and over? Absolutely.
(specifically, Chapter 2, 12, the end of 18, and the colossus in 26 and Misly's bit in 28)
(I love all my books equally... some parts just more than others)

TGIO! NaNoWriMo 2023 is done and I am super proud of my work. I knew 50,000 was a little more than I could handle this year, as I just changed jobs, have other evening responsibilities, etc. But! I am in the murky middle of my cozy mystery and there are red herrings flying left, right, and center! Robert has no idea what's going on.

I don't think I'm going to reach 50k this NaNoWriMo, but I love my story and my characters. Going way outside my comfort zone and plotting (gasp) a cozy murder mystery. This is one of my favorite quotes from the late Jo Jacobs, murdered (?) in her bed.
