This session will define Trauma and reflect on ways to assist others understand how Trauma intersects in several segments of our lives. We will discuss the effects of Trauma and how it can potentially change who you are as a person. We’ll learn helpful tips to support the influence of trauma and better understand how these affects appear in youth. There will also be minimal reflection on secondary Trauma as well.
King Street Church hosts an Orphan Care & Adoption Support Group for anyone who is on a journey of adoption or foster care. We offer encouragement, advice from personal experience, and caring support. Childcare and dinner are provided. Our next two meetings are on Tuesday, November 9, and Tuesday, December 7, from 6-8 pm in room M28 (enter through the Baker Center doors and go downstairs.) Whether you are in the VERY beginning of your journey or FAR along -- it doesn't matter where you are in the process-- you are welcome!

If you are an approved family, contact your agency to find out more about two upcoming opportunities in October. On October 8, the Central Region Adoption Coalition is hosting a training "Matching During a Pandemic" to help families understand how the matching process is different during these times. On October 15, the Older Child Matching Initiative is hosting a virtual matching event where families will have the opportunity to interact with some older youth. This event is limited to 10 families.
