We're LIVE folks.
All bookings are open to the Exclusive Dunedin Season of Prima Facie by Suzie Miller.
I can't say this about most plays, but this will sell out. It has all around the world.
So please, book early. Support the show as we make it.
Serena Cotton (Ablaze, The Brokenwood Mysteries, Shortland Street) stars as Tessa, a criminal defence lawyer, operating at the top of her game until a life shattering event finds her on the other side of the bench. She's suddenly forced to face the system she once so fervently believed in.
Acclaimed playwright Suzie Miller courageously shines a spotlight onto the legal system’s failure to provide reliable pathways to justice for women in sexual assault cases.
This play has hit a zeitgeist of its time, strengthening the voice of victims and changing the face of law around the world.
My gratitude, as always.
We're standing gratefully on the shoulders of so many:
He Waka Eke Noa Charitable Trust Otago Community Trust Dunedin City Council Wow Productions Prof Stuart Young, Alister McDonald, and every kind soul who has donated to our GiveALittle Campaign.

Starring: Serena Cotton
Although I did not receive major funding from CNZ, with the support of Marty Roberts Stuart Young and trusty - the ball is rolling.
NOW I NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
I want to tell this story.
I want Dunedin to experience the phenomenon that is Prima Facie.
I want to create sustainable incomes for all the professional artists involved on this project and beyond.
I want to ensure top quality theatre survives in Dunedin.
It's a very challenging artistic climate. CNZ's loss of $20M will impact so many. Sadly this is the way our country is set up to make art happen. We now can't do it without you.
Before tickets go on sale next month, you can show your support by donating via:

There will be a significant group of Dunedin creatives involved on this project.

Do you, a Theatre Practitioner or Theatre Tutor need a booster? Want to expand your horizons or change direction? Maybe re-energise? Are you not getting the roles you seek? Wondering if you could train to be professional? Well this Summer School is for you. Theatre is experiential, you can’t just read about it in a book and then think you can do it, you need to learn your craft, then practice it. Incentivise yourself – to incentivise others.
Three seasoned theatre practitioners and nationally recognised tutors, have been engaged to lead groups, focussing on three separate yet inter-twined aspects of theatre.
Each course is self-contained and full time for the week.
Spaces left with:
Directing: Lara Macgregor: Formerly of The Court Theatre, Christchurch & Fortune Theatre, Dunedin. Nationally acclaimed free-lance Director/Actor/Tutor.
Designing: Julian Southgate: A two-decade resident designer of set, costumes and properties at The Court Theatre, Christchurch. Julian is a leader in his field working holistically to integrate all aspects of design.
Why do Summer School?
Quote:
“Like most actors moving into directing, I copied the techniques – good and bad – from directors I had worked with. This intensive course helped me to develop my own style, with the language I needed, to communicate with the production team and, empower my actors.”
Joy Crawford.
Quote:
“Summer School was my change-maker: opening my mind, validating my passion, endorsing and growing my confidence and competence, completely changing my career! It changed my life – and I would not have it any other way.”
David Chambers.
Cost Per Person: $475.00
Applications Close December 1st
*Or earlier if course becomes full
All applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the Summer School.
Accommodation Self-Selecting/Self-Catering:

One of my fav BTS from The World's First Lovers by Jessica Latton.
Written as part of the Ōtepoti Theatre Lab Playwrights Programme in 2021, The World’s First Lovers has enjoyed a continued period of development, including workshops at Puaka Matariki Festival, a residency at Te Whare o Rukutia and inclusion at the prestigious indigenous writing festival, Breaking Ground (Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington), where Jessica further workshopped the script alongside some of Aotearoa’s leading theatre makers.
The recent season featured a local cast and crew of talented Māori creatives, the work weaves together theatre, dance and waiata, and features design by Marty Roberts and costumes by Amber Bridgman of KAHUWAI.
Special thanks to Creative New Zealand, Dunedin City Council, and Ngā Hua Toi.
Lucky to be directing RENT at The Court Theatre. Opens 19th Nov and runs until 21 Jan. Marketing are currently rolling out the full cast on The Court's socials but I nabbed this shot of James Foster coz I took his headshot a while back. So glad he's using it....makes me feel useful 🤣
Gorgeous . What a treat to take her headahots.
We go back a while. Fortune days. It was always a no brainer hiring Nadya. She's a wonderful actress. Super professional, kind and talented.
Valentino making his way in the world as an actor and I took a few headshots of him as he seeks representation. His Dad Richard Felix and I met at one of Shane Bosher workshops many moons ago. Lovely to meet up with Richard and Valentino again in Devonport to take some pics. Although it won't be used, this is one of my favorites. Valentino has such a classical look.
