Here’s an honest thought from a messed up person:

You don’t have to remind us—messed up people—that we messed up. We know it. The plans that didn’t work out, circumstances we created ourselves because of our lack of ability to foresee things. The inconvenience we’ve caused to ourselves and others. The little mistakes that resulted to an overcrowded tally page that’s too ugly to ignore. Trust me, we know we mess up. And if you’re disappoint of us, we’re far more disappointed of ourselves.

We are aware of the things we failed to do and become, the spots where we stumbled upon and how pitiful we looked at that moment. We know there’s something wrong with us or maybe with how we see ourselves. We, of all people, are very aware of our own lapses.

So please, if all you can do is to remind us of how messed up we are, please just keep it to yourself. Us messed up people don’t need to hear constant reminders of us being a failure in order to change, what we need is reassurance that no matter how many mistakes we’ve made, there’s still hope for us to be better. That no matter how ugly the floor looks after all our chaos, we can still pick up our scattered pieces, reassemble them, and work it all out.
