New Daisy colours are in stock!
Fableism added to their Forest Forage Daisy collection with these colours. My favourite is definitely the Indigo - the darkest blue in the middle of the photo.
Available now as yardage and a fat quarter bundle of the new colours. Search “Forest Forage Daisies” at PieceFabric.co to see both old and new Daisy colours.
Month two of the Block Collective Study with starts tomorrow, so let me show you what I finished in Month One!
The prompt was hourglass blocks, and I pulled out scraps to ply around with and ended up with these two pieces.
Trimming them irregularly was hard for me to do - I’m not good at letting go of evenly sized blocks yet. But I did play with adding skinny sashing in areas and tried really hard not to overthink. So hard. 😂
We have the Kona bundle for month two if you’re also in this 6 month membership - it’s tagged in photo 3!
Happy Thursday and last day of October!

Swipe to see it all!
If you drive past our shop right now in Grande Prairie, Alberta, this would be the quilt you’d see hanging in the window! 😍
Part of our challenge to ourselves to sew through as many scraps in September as possible, this used up a great range of solids, and a portion of a damaged bolt of fabric for the background. Sewn by Joselyn, of course. 😄
This pattern is designed by , and we have lots and the pattern available at PieceFabric.co. Oh, and this quilt too - it’s for sale too!
Happy Wednesday!

Have a great Monday!
I get it, sometimes you want a paper pattern.
has just released her first paper pattern, the . Available now at PieceFabric.co.😊
An intermediate quilt pattern, this beautiful design looks good on so many different fabrics, be sure to check the hashtag to see all the wonderful versions out there already!

Have a lovely weekend!

We can’t keep these in stock!
The Compass Wovens Paint Lake quilt kit has sold out several times and we keep re-making it - sometimes one fabric will be missing so we’ll sub it out with a similar one from the Compass Wovens collection.
There are three throw size quilt kits left. That’s it and that’s all there ever will be! We’ve paired these last three with backings and bindings, and you can add the pattern in if you don’t have it already!
The pattern by is our favourite beginner friendly quilt pattern. Using Compass Wovens makes it a bit more challenging, as these fabrics can be a bit shifty, but with a little extra care, these wovens make a perfect, soft quilt.
Search “Paint Lake” at PieceFabric.co to find these kits, and they are also tagged in this post.
Happy Thursday!

Although it may look like I’m showing off our floor here (it really is fantastic), I actually want to point out that item at the top of the photo.
It’s not a bolster pillow, although that’s exactly what it looks like, haha! It is a draft buster! These used to be way more common when our homes were draftier and you could feel the cold air coming in underneath the door.
The entrance to our apartment has this issue and it made the entranceway so cold last winter. So, using the scraps from a nine-patch Essex linen quilt, I made a tube and stuffed it full of our off-cuts and tiny scraps!
Now the wind can’t whistle in (as much).
I think this one is a little big, so I may try again with a smaller tube. Swipe through to see process pics:
- the tube
- using the rotary cutter to break down larger strips of batting into small bits for stuffing
- stuffing in all the tiny fabric bits
What handmade items are you using to make your home cozier this season? Although linen is often used in warmer months for its breathability, the Essex linen has such a wonderful weight for fall and winter projects - the texture adds the right amount of cozy! You can check out our Essex Linen at PieceFabric.co.
Happy Wednesday!

This came in handy this morning ❄️🌨️
We got our first snow of winter and I needed an extra warm quilt for my morning coffee. So this freshly finished quilt was put into use!
This is the 2nd scrappy checkerboard quilt, made with a mix of solids and prints in reds and peaches. Every brand of fabric that we carry is represented in this quilt - Kona, Art Gallery Fabrics, Moda, Oakshott (no longer in production). Oh wait. There might not be any Essex or Fableism in this. So *almost* every brand that we carry is represented.
Oh, and maybe not Rifle Paper Co.
Well then. There is still plenty of fabric scraps used, and then hand quilted with Aurifil 12 wt thread. Oh, and Quilters Dream Puff batting in a DOUBLE layer to make it extra puffy. Which it is. Extra puffy!! Wanna try that sometime? We also have that in stock. 😊
Happy Monday!

*wondering where is? Well, I am out of time to send a newsletter last week, which is where I talk about this he mockup first, so there’s no mockup this week. Come back next week!*
What are we up to?
Christmas projects, reels, new quilts, and maybe a few garments too? There’s endless inspiration, and never enough time to make all the good ideas. 😢
When you want help with your project, we are just a message away! Message us here, or at [email protected].
And stay tuned, we’ll show off all of our projects eventually!
Happy Thursday!

Did you know we have quilts for sale?
Maybe you need a quick gift, or perhaps you love handmade quilts but haven’t taken up the craft yet yourself.
We have a few listed and will add more as they are made. These quilts are always made from top quality quilting fabric, often using up some of our favourite fabric!
I’ve been stashing away these neutral prints from bolt ends and scraps for awhile, and Joselyn sewed them together in this scrappy patchwork quilt. Backed with a neutral double gauze with a light cotton batting, and long armed by , this is a really lovely baby sized quilt.
Find this and the other quilts available under the “Quilts For Sale” category at PieceFabric.co. I’ve tagged this one in the post too!
Happy Wednesday!

You know how I feel about solids, right?🥰
Well, when I found out that was releasing new colours in the line, called Hue…. There was no stopping me. 😂
I first saw and felt the Crossweaves when a few colours were released with the Warp &Weft collection several years ago. They have a very smooth hand for a cotton yarn dye, and have such supple drape. I wished then that they came in more colours and my wish came true!!
So here are the new , in bold, bright colours! Yardage and fat quarter bundles available now at PieceFabric.co.
The is done!
Made with , using a pattern by , Christina made this quick tote. She is building her skills (stay tuned, she’s already moved on to half square triangles!), and following good patterns is essential to learn the precision needed for good results.
Sewing with linen can be trickier than quilting cotton, but Essex Linen is a linen/cotton blend that works very well for quilting. It’s fairly stable and doesn’t give as many issues as some wovens do. If you want to try wovens but are nervous, check out our Essex collection at PieceFabric.co.
If you’re a new quilter and want advice on how to start or need a good pattern for skill building, we are only one message way! We love to help you grow in your quilting and sewing journey!
Happy Tuesday!

This quilt mockup is misleading.
Why? Well, we wanted to make a scrappy looking quilt using line by . It’s such a great autumn fabric collection - warm and cozy and will look beautiful in this (pattern by ).
But I only use solids in my .
So, here is an approximation of what the colours will look like in one block of the quilt (we are doing the 9 block version of the Whistle Stop Quilt). Joselyn is making this quilt this week, so you’ll get a better view of it soon! For now, swipe to see the actual fabrics used in this kit.
And if you’d like to make it along with us, the kit for this quilt is 15% off until this Friday. Discount shows up in the cart, no need for a code.
Happy Monday!
I know you haven’t actually met Christina yet, but she’s our newest Piece Fabric Co. person and she’s lovely! We’ll introduce you properly one of these days.
We are throwing all sorts of projects at her to help her find her one true sewing love, and this is the linen bag she’s tackled. The by should be a straightforward project, and Christina picked the perfect Essex linen for it!
Stay tuned to see the finished bag!
With a bit of interfacing, the Essex linen makes a sturdy enough fabric for bags and since it’s a cotton/linen blend, should wear well! Check out our Essex collection at PieceFabric.co.
Bonus info:
For those of you keeping track of who is who at Piece Fabric Co., Christina is engaged to Graydon, who used to work here and is also my son. That makes Christina my soon-to-be daughter-in-law. ❤️You’d have to check with her but I think we are getting along great!😄

Sometimes it’s hard to find a quilt pattern to use for .
But not this week!
Look what I found!!! This is the from , the pattern released this summer and I somehow missed it then.
Isn’t it a fantastic pattern? calls it “snowflake inspired” and I can see that, but I also love the beautiful geometry of these blocks. Whether you make it winter themed or not, this is a great pattern!
The pattern is available for purchase from , and until this Friday at midnight, this quilt kit for the quilt top in AGF Pure Solids is available for 15% off at PieceFabric.co. No code needed, the discount will show up in the cart.
Mockup made in , and I’d highly recommend playing around with this pattern there too! It was hard to settle on one mockup this week!
Happy Monday!

Want to make half square triangles easier?
Our secret weapon is the Clearly Perfect Slotted Trimmer! Used to trim the half square triangle BEFORE pressing them open, this multi-size ruler is perfect for quickly and accurately trimming these blocks to size.
I recommend you start with the A & B set, tagged in this post, which will trim blocks from 1.5” to 6.5” in 1/2” increments. Then, if you love hst and find that you need 1/4” sizes and larger block capabilities, there are other sizes available for just that!
This is a stack of 276 half square triangles that Christina made for a simple hst quilt, I think you’re going to love it!
And before you ask - my favourite method of sewing hst is two-at-a-time. I know there are so many more “at-a-time” options, but I like the simplicity and manageability of just two at a time. 😊
Happy Friday!

Perfection realized!
Joselyn was given the brief “Deal with our blue scraps!” And wow, did she deliver!
Using a scrappy light blue background and scrappy dark blues for the feature fabrics this is absolutely perfect!💙
The pattern by does not include instructions for this scrap happiness, but with a little bit of care, this wasn’t a difficult pattern to make scrappy!
And if this quilt inspired you to try it but you feel limited by the amount of blue (or whatever colour) scraps you have, we’d be happy to help you choose a few to supplement and make this happen!
This beauty will head off to a long armer now and be ready to show off in the store in the weeks before Christmas. 😊
Ready for a quick sew? has an easy (and very affordable) pattern that’s perfect for some lazy day sewing, or an easy entry point if you’re new to quilting!
And for this week, get this quilt kit for 15% off (until Friday midnight) with the discount. The discount shows up on the cart automatically, no code is needed!
The pattern must be purchased separately from , so grab that too.
This quilt kit is “Just 12 Fat Quarters”, literally exactly as the quilt pattern name suggests, so feel free to also grab this kit to build your stash of my favourite colours. 😊
Happy Monday!

Joselyn made the most charming pair of pants out of Fableism!🤩
Many of the fabrics are heavy enough to be used as a bottom weight, not just as the most beautiful quilting fabric. So that’s what Joselyn did!!
Aren’t they perfect? These are the , a pattern by , that Joselyn had made several renditions of and has now hacked to fit her perfectly. Removing the front pleats allowed the checkers to show up all the way to the waistband.
There are three colours of this Canyon Springs Checkers, and I’ve tagged them all in the post. Would you be brave enough to make a pair of Iris Checkers pants!!?? Oh, do it! I dare you!!
-Kendra
Time for a again!
This time it’s the , pattern by Christine from . ⭐️
I meant to make my own mockup of one of ’ patterns this week, but when I saw this one that Christine had made in , it was too good to just scroll by, so it become this week’s mockup!
That means that the quilt kit for this pattern is available for 15% until Friday at midnight. The discount automatically applies in cart - no code needed!
Have a great week!
